Managing your body's immune response is key to diseases of aging

Thank you for sharing this with us Nathan. I just saw a Chuck Norris informercial on YT about the link between inflammation and senior diseases. Of course he was hyping some formula he and scientists concocted to alleviate inflammation. I also read a couple of articles too. I will certainly read the one you posted as well.

I came across this article several years ago. Because the article covers information important to seniors, I repost it periodically. It's an easy couple minute read, but has much pertinent information.

Thank you for the link. I am not arguing the information as i am not qualified to do so.

That said, the problem is , it is sort of a lifestyle change, and most folks [myself included] like their lifestyle. Including their diet, it is very hard to change.

I get sick & tired of the medical community/industry telling me what I need to do, their making the big buck, why is it that they cannot do something ? without dumping the "cure" back on me / us ?

Don't get me wrong, I actually like most of the "unlikeable" foods , [and eat them] and I have followed an exercise routine for most of my adult life .... still do [on days when i can] .

This is why it is so hard to understand why I am as I am. Heart disease, pre-diabetes, arthritis, neuropathy , etc. And why I now question the validity of it all. Even my cardiologist [whom i met way to young] @ 50, was perplexed about it. He said .... genetics .... So here again, does all the "good behavior" really do any good ??

Again, don't get me wrong , I do appreciate the information ...... I just got on my soapbox there for a bit.

I feel similar. I eat lots of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, fish. No smoking, no alcohol, no drugs. I feel like I should be much healthier than I am.

Doctors usually avoid the words "We just don't know," but there are a lot of thing they just don't know yet. They work on finding out...when they can get the funding.

I'm no expert, either, but I think food additives is a major contributor to poor health in people who have healthy habits as well as those who don't. It's extremely difficult to find additive-free food, especially in the US, and you pay a premium when you can find it. A lot of food that's labeled additive-free or organic gets at least one chemical bath before it's shipped to the market; meat and produce in particular.

And money is the reason why both these problems haven't changed....yet.

Thank you, Nathan, that is very helpful, most of
their suggestions I already knew, I didn't always
practice all, but I eat most of the list.

Mike.

Chronic low-grade inflammation may not sound as serious as cancer or heart disease, but its slow, persistent nature can wreak havoc on our health over time. It silently damages cells and tissues, contributing to diseases like diabetes, cancer and arthritis.

My enemy is stress. No one is bothering me. I bother myself. Turmoil where there should be peace.
That made me laugh, it's the story of my life. Last week some relatives called and said they were coming for a visit in the last week of August. My anticipatory anxiety kicked in and I haven't slept since and probably wont until they come and go. I've asked all my friends and relatives to please wait until the last minute to tell me they're coming, but they don't listen.

Last year I was in a restaurant when I bit into a cucumber slice and a shooting pain went up the side of my face and I couldn't open my mouth all day. The dentist said it was inflammation. I thought whaaaat? He had no cure for it though and my regular doctor just says I suffer from TMB (too many birthdays.)

So this article is helpful. I really need to cut our sugar.

Great video! Problem is when I go grocery shopping tomorrow and am standing in front of the 6 foot high shelves of a dozen or more kinds of breads, I won't be able to remember anything of what she said.

I had a spasm in my jaw just like you did, once upon a time. Could barely slip a teaspoon between my teeth! Lasted for about 2 weeks and I got very tired of eating soup broths with rice.

But one thing that is supposed to be good for fighting inflammation (if everything else is good, like diet...) is turmeric and black pepper. So now I've replaced my coffee with turmeric/ginger/black pepper tea.
