many years ago I was sitting at the computer in the bedroom when I heard the almightiest thump against the window.....looked out and saw it was some kind of hawk that had flown straight into the window with the same result as the kingfisher. This poor Stork Billed Kingfisher crashed into my living room window and died on my front deck. I had my curtains closed, so I can only guess that the bird had mistaken the reflection of the trees and houses across the street on my living room window for a clear flight path. I can relate to losing birds that way. This poor Stork Billed Kingfisher crashed into my living room window and died on my front deck. Most of our birds usually survive but sometimes they don’t. We had a hairy woodpecker that survived. View attachment 355102
Months ago we had a little Junco fly into the window. At the time the weather was quite cold so I picked it up, wrapped my hands around it and waited for it to be ok again. It must have taken about 20 minutes at least. It was dusk, almost night so I really wanted it to be ok. Finally it flew away. When I lived in California, I had an Acorn Woodpecker knock itself out cold on one of my windows, but it soon woke up and was on its way.
That rose looks good enough to eat, @hollydolly .... kind of like peach/strawberry sorbet !In my garden today... Dahlias.. Peonies, and a resurgence of my Roses
