Am genuinely worried about what is happening in UK

You can't let this go!! I have no legitimate answer, except to say that is my remembrance, colored by love of place.

I have a great idea! YOU, Hollydolly, take ME, Pepper, to your most loved Greenist place in the British Isles. I wish that could be, but alas! I'm in no shape for travel. Allow me my memories, even if they might be wrong!
the reason I can't let it go is because it's so patently wrong. Imagine I said that New York or Chicago was the most green or the prettiest place in the USA..it would be patently untrue...

You can come here any time, and I will show you much nicer places...

On a British forum I used to be on, there was a woman whose job was to drive people to medical appointments, in the Somerset area, a place I am most fond of. Most fond of. Doesn't begin to describe my love for Somerset, to me the Greenist place I have ever been to. Anyway, one day she was driving an immigrant who boldly told her his people will take over England. This was over 10 years ago. Upset to hear this story, very upset. As you can see, I have not forgotten it!

On a significantly lighter note, as a little relief from the horror of the subject of this thread. Somerset is indeed one of the greenest counties in England.

I was 12 years old the first time I visited. I was there with my parents for about 10 days. As a 12 year old child, I remember thinking I would like to take a future girlfriend there with me one day, whoever that might be.

Several girlfriends later, in 2000 I took my then American girlfriend around South West England. The greenery and the landscape of Summerset became her favorite part of the country. Often she would express how peaceful & beautiful the area was, almost like a completely different world compared to the Mid West of USA, where she was born.

Simply typing, "beautiful Somerset greenery" into Google Images shows how wonderful this place is. Almost magical & enchanting in some areas. Then of course there is Summerset's quintessentially English Rolling Hills.

Something for people to play in the background -- it has a calming effect. Something we all need at times. Somerset:

I am only nudging in here to say that, although Somerset may not be the greenest county (I honestly do not know), I also have a love for Somerset. I also love Southern Ireland although, I haven't visited for a long time.

A well-meaning piece of advice from America...
You need ONLY good, honest, well-meaning Immigrants looking for jobs and a better life to cross your border. But...unfortunately if you aren't smart and careful there will soon be mixed in, a majority of "sheep in wolves clothing" instead.

From criminals and those who are from mental institutions, to terrorists getting poised to take over your country, to the ultimate worst case scenario now happening in America is organized "Axis of Evil" countries (another large country just joined them) poised to take over the world. They are entering like a Trojan Horse (in history) through our open borders.

Get strong leadership that will build a strong secure wall NOW that can't be torn down. Have an entry or 2 with secure Checking Stations of every background from every person.

Our wall was torn down almost 4 years ago, millions are pouring in, and none are being background-checked. Our cities are now crime-ridden, mass murders, flag burnings, Universities destroyed, historical buildings defaced, Police are being defunded overwhelmed, and being ganged up on and killed. It's almost too late to fix America...but I still have hope.

Now Southern Ireland is a completely different kettle of fish... no comparison between that and Somerset..

of course right now, Southern Ireland are having their own Massive problems with Immigrants... it's just an absolute disgrace... Immigrants in Dublin are blatantly attacking or attempting to attack young women in broad daylight... they're camping all along the streets like the homeless do in California.. the Irish are absolutely protesting against these people..

My worry is they will all come here and join the millions we already have..

I could on and on.. but it's highly political so I better stop

Indeed ..... these problems are a plague the world over, Europe, UK, Canada, world wide. But for heavens sake we cannot discuss it because .... someone might mention the government or the politicians as a point to stop it. Or, the admins in their great infinite wisdom might just consider a post/reply political, and shut it down .

I'm not sure that the dubious political opinions and "facts" closely held by partisans taking one side of U.S. immigration issues have any place in this discussion. As long as nobody mentions opposing positions though that one side is given quite a bit of latitude here.

He was born in Cardiff - he is not an immigrant, he is British. Whatever religion or colour he is (that isnt clear, someone said of Rwandan ethnicity, someone said South Asian) he is British born.
British people arent just white, you know.

but that doesnt seem to have stopped riots and the usual anti migrant backlash.

Numerous studies have shown that immigrants are generally less likely to commit crimes than native born citizens. However whenever an immigrant commits a crime it recieves a disproportionate amoumt of attention.

Immigration and crime - Wikipedia
This is nonsense, as so much in the filthy wikipedia. But of course someone can fake the numbers if he only looks at all immingrants. For example in Germany the immigrants from East Asia (Chinese, Japanese, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and so on) don't commit many crimes, whereas immigrants from the Middle East and Africa are much more criminal.

I get it. It's a real bummer when the facts don't validate your worldview.

I hate it when that happens.
You can talk if you live here in Europe... you would son cange your mind.

The immigration here is a completely different animal to the Immigration in the USA which has been built on Immigrants and continues to be so.... Pepper summed it up perfectly in one paragraph... she has had experience of both countries..

I think Wikipedia statements are usually true - it presents facts objectively and cites it sources - you can contact them if you have information showing something there is incorrect.

or post your more correct facts here ,with cited sources like Wiki does.

I beg to differ. Immigration is every bit as contensious an issue on this side of the pond as it is over there. I hear the exact same arguments as yours over here all the time.
