Am genuinely worried about what is happening in UK

OMG! He's a child! This sickens my heart. Why, why did he do this?
My bet is that he was radicalised online. He may even have been persecuted for the colour of his skin and made to feel like an outsider. However, everything at this stage is mere speculation.

I doubt it was anything to do with the colour of his skin. One because we aren't generally a racist country.. it's also against the law..... and 2 the area where he lived has a lot of non whites....

In fact he had a small TV career... about 6 years ago he was cast as DR Who throughout the ages for a trailer for BBC children in Need..

Southport stabbing suspect Axel Rudakubana starred in BBC advert

Hopefully you are right and UK is generally not a racist country.

as shown by rioting and some comments about migrants - clearly not entirely non racist though

Was the diagnosis made before or after, another question which people in UK will demand an answer too. Those protesting on the streets are not going to wait, act first ask questions later. As soon as facts are known they should be made public, might avoid more violence and thwart those wishing to spread misinformation.

I have a friend who is on the Autism Spectrum. After various assessments, it took several months for him to get an official medical diagnosis.

With that in mind, Axel was in custody for about two days before he appeared in court, where the prosecution then said he had an Autism Spectrum Diagnosis. Based on that, I think it's reasonable to believe he was probably diagnosed before the terrible incident, rather than after. No doubt the diagnosis timeline will be brought out in the court case when it starts.

I think back to 1993, the murder of 2-year-old James Bulger by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. The toddler was abducted, tortured, and murdered by these boys, leading to a national outcry and death threats against their families. Consequently, their parents were relocated and given new identities.

As for the 10 year old boys, The trial of Thompson and Venables was held in an adult court due to the severity of their crimes. The prosecution successfully argued against the principle that young children cannot be held legally responsible for their actions. This decision led to various complications, including appeals to the European Court of Human Rights.

In 2001, Thompson and Jon Venables were ‘released on licence’ after a parole board review determined they were no longer a threat to public safety. They were provided with new identities and supporting documents such as passports, national insurance numbers, academic qualification certificates, and medical records.

The then Home Secretary, David Blunkett, as part of the Release Licence, insisted on being sent daily updates of their actions. Other terms included restrictions on contacting each other or Bulger's family, a ban on visiting Merseyside where the murder too place, possible curfews, and regular reporting to probation officers. Any breach could result in their return to prison.

Given some of the parallels, I wouldn’t be surprised if Axel Muganwa Rudakubana and his parents would receive new identities if he is convicted. Axel to keep him somewhat safe in prison, and his parents to keep them safe from vigilantes. To me this seems likely considering the recent court appearance, where it was revealed he has an autism spectrum disorder and has had significant recent behavioural challenges.

Anyway, in 2010, Jon Venables contacted his probation officer, stating that he feared his new identity had been compromised at his place of work. When the officer arrived at his flat, Jon Venables was attempting to remove & destroy the hard drive in his computer. The computer was then taken away for examination. Child abuse material was found on his computer. Venables was returned to prison.

Maybe the British legal system will have the history of this in mind when deciding a sentence, should Axel be convicted.

Should anyone feel that they would want to know or research more of the Robert Thompson and Jon Venables case, prepare yourself for the horrific details of what you might read.

On a significantly more lighter note, I might consider posting something about the nonsense of the misguided and perceived correlation between murderers and thair star signs? Someone please give me strength!

Do you have life in prison without the possibility of parole? It would be the same and give the same result?

Yes, life in prison without parole has been exercised in the UK. It's known as a "whole life order." People sentenced to a whole life order spend the rest of their lives in prison without the possibility of being released.

Names that spring to mind are, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley -- known as the The Moors Murderers. Before my time, but I remember my parents telling me about them. Brady and Hindley both died in prison. Another name that springs to mind is Peter Sutcliffe, known as The Yorkshire Ripper. He murdered 13 women and attempted to murder 7 more. As a child, I remember eveyone talking about this case.

More recently, relatively speaking, Rosemary & Fred West were both given 'whole life orders'. During the investigation & the subsequent excavation of the property to discover its horrors, the property became unstable and had to be demolished.

The Kray twins spring to mind, although they weren't given whole life orders. A couple of movies have been made of them. They were sentenced to a minimum of 30 years without parole. Convicted in 1969, Ronnie Kray died 26 years later at Broadmoor High Security Psychiatric Hospital. Reginald Kray died almost 32 after his sentence. Reganal was released from prison only on compassionate grounds, on the direction of the Home Secretary. Reginald died around 5 weeks after being released. Dying of bladder cancer in a hotel.

Why did Tim Mcveigh request to be executed? Was it for the reasons you mention?
The government (federal) had too much evidence on him. There was no way he wouldn’t have been found not guilty, so he was never offered a deal to confess and they would take the death penalty off the table. His portable bomb (inside the truck) killed about 168 people.

Evidence found were pieces of a Ryder rental truck, which was traced to a body shop where it was rented and through composite drawings of the man who rented the truck, area residents named Mr. McVeigh. Inside the truck were bags of fertilizer with traces of the powder, diesel fuel and other chemicals being found on his clothing and interviews from several witnesses, including 2 men who were aware of his plan and were also sentenced. (Terry Nichols & Michael Fortier) Included in the number killed were 19 children, along with 149 other people, around 300 surrounding buildings were destroyed and several vehicles.

When Mr. McVeigh went to trial, he was quickly found guilty and sentenced to death.

In most cases, when a mass murder is committed and so much evidence is collected, it’s unlikely that the suspect will be offered a deal to confess. Mr. McVeigh’s trial was very expensive due to it being a federal case and the amount of evidence that had to be presented. To give him 168 life sentences to be served consecutively would have been senseless. If you remember correctly, the people wantedThe Oklahoma City bombing investigators:

To be on the safe side though, it might not be a bad idea to lock up Capricorns and, perhaps keep a close eye on Leos and Scorpios too, just in case.;)

I remember Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. They were child murderers. Truly horrible. I don't know what she saw in him. But their case was famous even here in the U.S. Some crimes are just that bad and make you grateful people can be institutionalized.

But then just very recently 2 12 year old boys killed someone with a Machette, and the judge said they cannot be named because they might be BULLIED... wth?... this country and it's judges need a serious shale up...

Two 12-year-old schoolboys who callously stabbed a man to death in a park with machetes before laughing about it on snapchat will not be named by the courts as a judge feared they may be 'bullied.'

The evil children became the UK's youngest knife murderers after stabbing Shawn Seesahai, 19, through the heart in a park in Wolverhampton in November last year.

The youths are also believed to be the youngest defendants convicted of murder in Britain since Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, both aged 11, were found guilty in 1993 of killing two-year-old James Bulger.

However, despite four media organisations, including the PA news agency, having argued that the defendants, one now aged 13, should lose anonymity granted by an order under the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act, it was kept.

Mrs Justice Tipples, sitting at Nottingham Crown Court, said she had accepted evidence contained in pre-sentence reports that naming the boys would have a detrimental impact on their welfare.

Unbelievable reason why evil killer schoolboys cannot be named

Riots have broken out in Manchester today........ ...when is the government going to sit up and take notice at what the people are protesting against and do something about it. We're not the worlds dumping ground for illegal immigrants..

Well, it's not a war zone, you know.

I am so reminded of cycles. Life just keeps rolling through cycles over and over, history repeats itself. I'm thinking the 1976 and 1977 Notting Hill riots. The demand to change government at that time, the unrest. We're seeing another cycle of that, fueled in large part by Social Media and people who don't like to think too much.

The thing about riots are, the rioters only end up destroying their own neighborhoods. They'll wake up the next day to burnt out cars and destroyed buildings, it's self-flagellation.

We live in times where the extreme-right have been pouring gasoline on fires for a long time now. People who claim to be patriots who hate everything that makes their country a great place to live. The incessant saber rattling and hate-mongering that leads nowhere other than hatred and violence. Normally rational people are being radicalized by Tik-Tok, Facebook, and especially Telegram.

But as I say, we've been through this before. The immediate solution is crowd control, arrests, and heavy sentences. There can be no negotiation with these type of people.

Shouldn't this be in the "More people just don't want kids" thread?

Immigration policy is a direct consequence of policies curbing the birth of native children.

I'd love to know how you arrived at this idea. I can't even think through a scenario where it would be true, but I look forward to learning something.

I'd like to know how you can possibly miss this. Every discussion of demographic collapse covers immigration as a desperate but failed attempt to compensate for birth decline.

Today in Manchester, police managed to keep two opposing marches apart. Reported that these two demonstrations were sparked by the tragic child murders in Southport and the subsequent spread of misinformation on social media.

On one side, marchers carried banners reading No to Racism. On the other side, demonstrators were heard shouting, “Get out,” “F*** off,” and “Who the f*** is Allah?” directed at a small group of young Muslim women. One man allegedly giving the Nazi salute.

No doubt, In the meantime, the families and friends of the murdered children, along with their school friends and neighbours continue to grapple with grief and shock from the Southport tragedy. As they witness social conflict hatred on TV and within their own neighbourhood. I can’t even imagine how the parents are coping with processing their grief with all this going on in the background.

I'd like to know how you can possibly miss this. Every discussion of demographic collapse covers immigration as a desperate but failed attempt to compensate for birth decline.

But that's different from the comment I quoted. The quoted sentence was "Immigration policy is a direct consequence of policies curbing the birth of native children."

What are those policies? How is birth of "native" children being curbed?

Calling it a "demographic collapse" is a little over the top and dramatic, imo. But if local peoples aren't having kids, we're going to need immigrants to keep things going. What's the alternative? I'm well aware of immigrants being brought in to specifically to do jobs, I've written about it several times on these forums. I experienced it first hand, and I'm not in favor. It's a much abused system, but from my experience not by the immigrant, but by the companies who don't want to pay going rates to locals.

The truth is, the riots have little to do with the terrible crime. The riots are being orchestrated by people who just want to bring violence to our streets, and to undermine the institutions on which our great country relies. It's opportunism, that's all.
