What have you bought recently?

Soap & Glory skincare stuff and a couple of claw-type hair grips. All from the same chemist so, more points added to my loyalty card :)
Boots ?

I don't buy stuff from Boots because they artificially raise their prices compared to Savers et al.. to cover those Loyalty points..

Most of my shoes are hand made by an artisan name of Colin Johnson. This pair are known as "Spectator," shoes. While the original men's version of the shoe dates back to the mid 19th century, the style became popularised by the Duke of Windsor, who would famously wear the men's version to sporting events in the 1930's. Hence the name, spectator shoes.

They team up well with both formal attire and a more casual appearance.

Yes. I find that with most shops though, the prices vary so, some things are more expensive while others are cheaper. I guess it depends on what you buy. I find the 3 for 2 offers are usually good value.

A new heat pump. My old (2005) heat pump will be replaced Monday morning ... $4,045 installed

I love those blue and white brogues.. actually I love brogues anyway, but these blue ones are just a glorious shade of blue....and you suit blue very well..what does Mrs HC think ?

I agree about the exiled king.. he always wore brogues... I remember seeing that a long time ago in pictures.. he was extremely smartly dressed..

Thank you Holly, much appreciated. My lady is into the smart appearance style as much as me. Like me, she doesn't centre around one particular era, it's more of simply wearing something that she likes. That is why we have such a large wardrobe apiece, nothing gets thrown out, worn out or given to charity shops.
The lady does like the heels on shoes prior to the stiletto (killer heels,) becoming the fashion of the day. This 1930's style sandal shows the kind of heel that she prefers.

Does your wife have those shoes or is the photo just to show the style she likes? Either way, I love those shoes ❤️

Do you like them Trish? That was a photo that I had on my phone. It was to show her how to retain the shoe's shape. She has them somewhere in her collection. Would you believe that she has an entire shoe wardrobe? This is just one half,

Do you like those Cuban style heels.

She's rather fond of these, as the worn appearance gives testimony.

Jitterbug Holly? The jitterbug, was an exuberant dance popular in the 1930's and '40's, originating in the United States and spread internationally by U.S. armed forces during World War II. Originally it had freewheeling acrobatic swings and lifts but these were modified for more conservative ballroom versions.
LOL..I know the jitterbug is a dance.... I thought Hawkie was talking about something else

So did I, what a devil I am at manipulating the subject.

Colin Johnson, who makes hand made shoes, was taken out of his comfort zone when he made these. Colin's method is simply to show by way of a catalogue or web-page, the shoes and colours that he can do. Grey & white are not listed. He did baulk at first when I asked him about the colour that I wanted, but now, seeing them, I think he might even include them in the future.

The shirt & trousers my wife made.
Colin made the shoes, of course, and
Gamble & Gunn made the hat for me.

I like the shoes too but, the sandals are my favourites although the cuban heels are probably more comfortable for dancing. That's great shoe storage. Someone once told me that women either have lots of shoes or lots of bags. I love bags but, not as much as I love shoes :)

That's a nice outfit and the grey and white shoes make a change from the usual colours. I shouldn't encourage you to buy more shoes but, the Oxfords are nice, especially the brown and cream version.

I have bought several of the so-called 'throws', but one I bought recently has been a big disappointment. It is a lovely deep red colour, but it sheds everywhere. This is the first time this has happened. I think I'll have to make a cover for it and turn it into a quilt.

DD and I went to the square, and I only spent $12 on some tamales.

DGD didn't go because they're going to a festival east of the city this afternoon. She wanted to save her energy for the festival.

The shoes on the left are a dark brown and white. It's a testimony to good leather that the shoes on the right were a 40th birthday present from my lady, that was thirty-eight years ago. They still get the occasional wear. the original brown and cream cleans up a treat, when I can be bothered to clean them, that is.
