How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Dug up some of our potatoes yesterday. Got a pretty good crop - no blight or slug damage. It became quite windy in the afternoon and we had
rain overnight, but starting to clear up now. Still expecting a few showers so I doubt if we'll be out in the garden today.
Temperature dropped overnight and the central heating fired up for a few minutes this morning. End of 'Summer' ? I hope not. I must order a top-up of heating fuel and a load of logs.

Good morning, Invisipeeps.

@hollydolly I didn't fall down the rabbit hole, just chilling after a long day.

Visited with DS/DSIL yesterday. Other than lunch, it wasn't a good day. Good lord! Uber has raised prices in the past month. It was almost $35 more round trip than it has been. They must be making money hand over fist because one driver told me that she leases her car (a Tesla!) from Uber and it costs her...wait for it...$1600/month. And that's one of less expensive ones available to lease.

Nothing got done in the garden yesterday so today I have to get my arse in gear because there are only five more days before eye surgery. After that, it'll be a while before I'll be able to do anything out there. (Be prepared for a cranky old lady while I sit around doing nothing!)

DD said I'm on house arrest between now and eye surgery because I don't need to take a chance on contracting a case of the "Rona." Yeah. Well, house arrest except for a quick trip to the garden center this morning to check out the "Clarence" shelves. It'll be my last chance to get some plants to provide some color when the cooler weather gets here.

Okay, then. Gotta get going and get more weeding done. There's a lot to do and a short time to get it done.

Today, the big achievement for us will be to get rest somehow. You know those days when you are just worn out, beat, no motivation, no energy, no get up and go...Despite trying to sleep in trying to relax...nope. Wife is cleaning an already clean house (Lol), I am doing bedding laundry, yet we both feel like the walking dead!

One of those days that I think only coffee directly in the vein will do anything!

It's Friday. I've got to get out of the house. The weather is great! I think DH might even join me.
I didn't sleep all that great so I'm up later than normal.

@packleader , after our last dog passed we've had no pets. No need to feel responsible for anything here.

@Georgiagranny Uber is expensive. I've thought what a great service for seniors but wow! Someone should start a service only for seniors and lower their rates. Someone with heart, money, and a desire to help. I'll email Elon. 😊 Maybe he'll donate the Teslas.

I fell asleep last night and never got to post about my day. It was lovely. My Honorary Daughter (HD) took me to Kohls to so I could return an Amazon order. She informed me that there’s a UPS store close to her house (the one near me closed) and that she’ll be passing it every day once she goes back to work in September. She said she’d be happy to pick up my returns and take them there. That will save my son the time and trouble.

Then it was on to my new favorite Dollar Tree, which is literally a new one. It is nicely stocked and organized....had everything I needed. After that, I treated HD to lunch at IHOP (her choice). The server was so personable that we both liked her energy and told her so. They both convinced me to save my Pancoins because yesterday a pancake special was in effect.

There was a little snafu with the bill (server’s error) but it was taken care of easily. She even compensated me by giving me a receipt someone who spent almost five times what I did, had left behind. She said to use it so I can get extra Pancoins. I had a Sephora 10% off coupon I wasn’t using so I gave it to our server.

I didn't put any of the things I bought away yet. But last evening, I did finally put the rest of the laundry items away from a few days ago. I think I’d better come back later to post about what I did today instead of writing what I plan to do. I never quite do all of what I plan and sometimes none of it.

It's become harder to get info about the action being taken with remaining fires in the three ravines that were most threatening and contributing much smoke in the air for weeks. But as of this moment, having checked the Regional District's wildfire-info page, there are no current evacuation alerts for the residential areas here.

I know of no new fires that may have been started by lightning during the most recent brief thunder storms. Helicopters still fly over, but fewer times per day. Our weather forecast says that starting by 2pm local time today, there's risk of another thunder storm. Sigh... due to not having lengthy periods of substantial rain, we just hope for the best.

Here's a pic we took of the firefighter's camp that was set up five minutes down the backroad from our place. Most of the tents could accommodate two individuals. As some of the support personnel are local residents, the tents didn't provide their sleeping arrangements.

@IKE Don't forget that I've changed my name to Mama! Wait. Never mind. I mowed Wednesday. Be here Sunday, please.

@hearlady Right. Rides for seniors. Mmhmm. But do check with Elon because I just know he'll want to start something like that out of the goodness of his...what?...heart?

@OneEyedDiva I find that if I post my intentions for the day, they usually get done or at least a lot of them get done so I won't embarrass myself having to admit that they didn't.

@Trila Awake now? It's been two hours...jussayin'...maybe you could check with @Tazx about a caffeine IV.

As for me. I'm feeling virtuous (again). I pulled two big buckets of weeds before we went to the garden center to visit Clarence. He had tickseed, black-eyed susans, marigolds and blanket flowers just waiting to be adopted by me.

Had to pay full price for allium bulbs, but that was expected. Those won't get planted for another month.

Now there's color in the garden for fall. The marigolds got planted in front of the zinnias that are getting funky looking without foliage on the stems. Now I still have pretty yellow zinnia flowers and orange marigolds to disguise their, um, shortcomings.

Done in the garden for today. More weeds await tomorrow morning.

Reckon @hollydolly is home from her knee consultation yet? It's just past 5pm there.

Hola.. mi amigas/os...

Glorious sunny day today ☀️

I have had an eclectic day. First I went out into the garden and saw someone's T-shirt ( good quality) had been blown into my garden. Goodness knows from where.. it looked like a man's T shirt, but the guy next door.. and the other 2 doors up are away.. so who knows...

Sadly a Dove had been torn to ribbons on my lawn. These Doves are really big, size of a small cat so they must have been attacked by Sparrow hawks... huge chunks of wings were being consumed by insects..

Then drove to North London, for the hospital, nice place.. Consultant couldn't be there today so I saw an underling who has made another appointment for 4 weeks time for me to see the Main Man..

I thought everywhere would be quiet today (even tho its Friday).. because of the holidays but it was all surprisingly busy ....

I stopped off at M&S & Tesco on the way back.. got a ton of groceries.. ...the shop was mobbed .. took me 25 minutes to get through the checkouts

Then once I got home and put it all away, there was still an hour before the Charity shop closed in the next village.. so I threw 2 large sacks of donations into the car and took it there.

Once there I had a little look around, and got a brand new pair of knee length black shorts ( M&S) still with tags on.. for £5... original price £22.50...

They're much darker than this pic shows..

Whenever I comment in this thread, it's usually because I'm off work and I have time to goof around on the computer. LOL.

Actually, today I did get something done I've been meaning to do for quite some time. I went through all my favorites and deleted the ones I never use, and updated all my info on the ones I use.

The big thing, though, is I finally went through all my bills and money sites and made them all the same email address. I was tired of having to get my notifications at three different emails.

This is a site that you can "supposedly" get lower cost
rides with the companies...I used it for a few times....
https://www.gogograndparent.com/#home-section
Thanks for posting this! I'd heard about this company some years back (and if it's the same one) they were only available on the East Coast but it looks like it's available in my area now. So was your experience with it okay?

I happened to find a new pair of khaki cargo type pants at my local thrift for $5 today! They fit perfect. Must be pants day!

Took local bus to my favourite thrift store. Dropped off goods and didn’t buy anything else. It’s a hot summer Friday afternoon in a tourist area. The traffic was crazy. I was glad I didn’t have to deal with parking.

Finished polishing leather furniture this morning. Also had a long talk with DD1 who was sitting on the beach at her cottage.
