Horrendous spousal abuse in France

Pick the ones that apply to the man or wife.

Psalm 37:23 ESV
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;

Proverbs 16:9 ESV
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps

Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Esther 4:14
Perhaps you were born for such a time as this.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Psalm 33:11
The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Maybe a defense would be the man was following God's plan.
This makes no sense. A crime is a crime.

Unfortunately European punishments in law are much lower than in the USA.. but I sincerely hope there is some kind of loophole which will mean this man never sees the light of day again
Here in the U.S., we have a lot of violent crimes. Mass murders, serial killers, rapes and knife killings are minimally down, but still too high. Some of our more violent sexual predators are into torturing their victims before killing them.

There’s no doubt that a lot of our criminals suffer from some sort of mental illness.

This case is horrible. It brought to mind another horrible case in France called The Outreau Case. Netflix even made a docuseries on it. "Over a dozen children were deemed victims of rape, sexual assault, and corruption, with over 50 people investigated for those crimes and 17 of them prosecuted in court."

I tend to agree, and why did it go on so long, without being reported.

I just hope the authorities get to the bottom of what did happen, accurately.
Indeed, without being graphic, a person would be sore, and so on. It is horrendous, like the rohypnol stories that used to be in the papers. If such drugs were used many times, surely a person would know?
I can but guess.

Don't be ridiculous, or should I say deliberately provocative.
Not really trying to provoke. Living in America the legal system has a place for using belief in God as a defense. Being declared legally insane doesn't excuse the fact that a crime was committed. It can however make it possible for the person to be confined to a mental institution where in a short amount of time he could be released because he regained his sanity.

Here in Nevada 4 teens kicked & beat another teen to death. Their case was sent to juvenile court where they were offered & accepted, a plea deal. The deal included sealing their records. So they brutally murdered yet don't face long jail time, or the available recorded fact that they committed a crime. IMO the justice system is not always fair to the victim.

"In America, if you stand trial for a crime, you can plead no contest, innocent, guilty, or guilty by reason of insanity. If people truly believed that god existed and could personally impact our daily lives, then shouldn't a legal defense be that "god told me to do it"?

However, if someone says that god told them to do the crime, they are usually found either guilty (because this constitutes a confession) or guilty by reason of insanity. If they truly believe that god told them to do it, then they are usually found to be legally insane.

That is unbelievable. The husband is diabolical. The picture of those perpetrators hanging their heads in court. Yes, abusers, it's all fun isn't it? Until you get caught.

There are significant numbers of men that use prostitutes all their lives married or not for their own seks for a variety of hedonistic reasons. And small numbers of them will also pimp out their wives to others usually for economic reasons. In fact, not minor numbers may eventually enter serious relationships and even marry their prostitutes. I first encountered such men in the military where seeking out prostitutes has always been epidemic. And of course there is a whole underworld of wife swappers and a list of other seks oriented lifestyles. Thus the French news story ought not be surprising.

Well it IS suprising...nay , shocking, because Numero Uno...the wife knew nothing about it so didn't give any consent..Numero Dos... she was drugged during every encounter... and Numero Tres... there was no money changed hands...so this was done for pure sadistic pleasure for the husband...

That doesn't wash in Australian courts. Only the evidence from psychiatrists would be listened to if a plea of insanity is made. There would have to be evidence of psychotic behaviour and/or treatment before the offence.

"God made me do it" is not a defence.
