Do you claim a fish as your ancestor?

It all depends. If I fish out of the fresh water river and lakes in my area, I use either a general purpose casting reel, or a spin casting reel. As for rods, again it all depends if I am on a boat or fishing from the shore. I have fly rods, casting rods and trolling rods. I use different rods for different types of fishing. Different lengths also.

When we go to Florida and fish out of the Gulf in saltwater, it’s the same thing. Fishing from the shoreline, fishing off the boat near the shoreline, or going deep sea fishing. Depending on where or what I am fishing for will decide what equipment I will use.

A few years ago, I started fishing out near the middle grounds where the big fish, or trophy fish hang out. I bought an electric reel, which really helps me reeling in my line if I fish below 300 or more feet. Using lithium batteries hold up longer. I have used several different brands of rods and reels over the year.

If my house hadn’t burned to the ground about 15 years ago, I had some great pictures I could have shown. That probably hurt the worse for my wife and me. We could replace most everything we lost, except our pictures of the kids growing up, our vacations and too many memories went up in fire.

Check this out.

Amazing, right? It’s not real. Taken at Universal in Orlando.

Just to make a point. You don't have to be an atheist to believe in evolution. It's generally fundamentalists who deny it.
The Bible could be accepted as allegory, and many Christians do. Maybe evolution is how God works.
The problem is that Jesus and his Apostles considered the Genesis events, such as the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and The Global Flood, as well as the Genesis creation account, not as merely allegories, but as indisputable historical facts.

Dismiss the OT as allegorical in order to accommodate the evolutionary theory was just suggested? Well, the problem is that Jesus and his Apostles considered the Genesis events, such as the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and The Global Flood, as well as the Genesis creation account, and the punishment of angels not as merely allegories, but as indisputable historical facts.

Matt24:
6 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Jude 1:
5Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe. 6. And the angels who did not stay within their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling— these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day. 7In like manner, Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, who indulged in sexual immorality and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who sustain the punishment of eternal fire.…

Matthew 10:15
Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them deep into hell, placing them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;

Revelation 20:2
He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Revelation 20:10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Yes, that's a problem all right

Note the word "theory". It's in the first sentence, and it's repeated a number of times.
reminds me of this old joke...

An Orangutan is sitting in his enclosure in the zoo.
In one hand he has the Holy Bible; in the other, Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.

“I can’t figure it out” he thinks; “one says I’m my brother’s keeper, and the other says I’m my keeper’s brother!”

Are you seeking to win people to your faith?

I enjoyed the book, 'Your Inner Fish' by Neil Shubin. (Paleontologist, Evolutionary Biologist)
Deals with organs and bone structures of ancient fish and how they relate to us.
Was also a PBS special.
How they relate to us in his hypothetical scheme of things. Sci fi writers can easily come up with some intricate idea and then meticulously arrange things to look as if they are interrelated. Sci Fi writers do it all the time. In fact, some create entire hypothetical universes with imaginary interrelated things.
Are you seeking to win people to your faith?
Just pointing out how your premise seems flawed. As to faith? Nope! Are you? What anyone decides to believe is entirely up to them. But since this is a discussion forum, I am discussing.

Do you claim a fish as your ancestor?

Are you kidding me? I'm not even sure who my bio dad is. Thank you, Ancestry.com.

Wow! That loss of photos and other precious personal items definitely hurts. I lost a lot of photos due to theft in Philadelphia back when I was 27 years old. The thieves, people whom we had welcomed into our home as acquaintances, wanted to make it hurt more. So they took personal items. So I definitely know how such a loss feels. However I seem to be missing something. How does all of this relate whether one has a fish as an ancestor or not? Care to explain?

Good to know that you're not trying to win people to your faith, not because that in itself is a bad thing but boy howdie, you're picking verses guaranteed to send people running in the other direction.
What you choose to describe as mere faith, is my very logical belief in creator based on DNA as evidence.

BTW
Please note that the direction anyone chooses to run based on anything that I might choose to say or post is entirely up to them. It is called freedom of choice. However, I am curious about what verses you imagine they would run from and why. Care to explain?

Is it my imagination, or is the other guy about to burst out laughing at various points? Also, isn't it a rather racist to only have black people as examples going back in time in that way?
