The rain that wasn't in the forecast happened anyway. It's not like we needed more.

@hollydolly Not only have I not heard anything about the job, it's unlikely that I will. There were about 10 different questions that asked whether I or anyone in my family is now receiving,or has in the past received, any kind of aid to dependent families. I answered "no" to all of them, and it dawned me after I submitted the application that the reason for the questions was that the company gets tax breaks and actual $$ from the government when hiring people who are disadvantaged. That wouldn't be me.

I've given up the idea of working. If a job falls out of the sky with my name on it, I'll take it, but I'm not actively looking any longer. It's just too much trouble. I miss having something to do, though.

ok well what about volunteerng somewhere..anywhere... if you google volunteering jobs in my area, you might be astonished as I was at just how many are actually voluntary ....

Don’t they include a photo of the car in the letter. I’ve only had one letter and I could tell it was me driving, not my husband. The speed zone started before the stop sign and I didn’t see it.

No because it's not a speeding fine.. and it's not from a car park company... it's a headed letter from the Police...

Just checking in while the phone will let me. They are saying *maybe* electricity by the 2nd… I’m not holding my breath.

Tossed all the stuff in refrigerator and freezer today. Fortunately I was able to talk to my insurance agent and she told me food that we had to throw out is one thing for which they will reimburse us

Y’all take care and I’ll check in as I can

Just saw an update from city government… there are currently 1900 lineman from various states just in our county alone, working to get power restored
 
Son & family had to cancel planned trip to Florida, due to Helene. They were supposed to leave tomorrow. Where they would have been staying is functional, but too many business are closed. Power on, but no internet. DIL very disappointed as their hosts would have been her very good friends & she was looking forward to being with them. So, I don't know if they can make other vacation plans or if they will stay home and do stuff here.

I was nervous about them going, but I'm always nervous about them, they're my 'weak' spot yet source of any strength I have left.

I hope power is back sooner rather than later for you! Sorry you lost food. That's good though that it will be reimbursed.
 
Good morning folks!!! Slept in till 330am today yay....LOL...but
what the heck....feel okay, sort of, and thats ok too...dunno what
I'm up to but I smell the laundry calling LOL....well not really...but put it off for a few days....so it is time, then see what
else I can get into...oh and my new 4 wheel walker/chair comes today, that is If you can depend on the post office(?)...got a
friend who's gonna come by and assemble it for me, then
look out, here I go!!!! It has hand brakes and I'll need them for
sure !!!!:giggle::coffee:

Morning all...it's 11.30am

Raining still.. sheesh... just finished with a Zoom meeting with my lawyer.. .. yet more steps to be completed with the divorce courts due to my soon2Bex unwillingness to pay his due...:cautious:

Told her I'm due to go into hospital for surgery soon ( If I don't rechedule before that )... and I just am not going to have the strength over the next few months to fight him... so we'll see how things go...

The Big news is I got my Hotmail address back..👏👏 not in the same format as it was,, it's now Outlook but the email address remains @hotmail.com .. and I got all my archived mails back with it ... Thank the good Lord....!!

I've got to go out now in the rain and drive to North London for Tesco .. and M&S shopping......joy !

@CinnamonSugar ..I hope they get your electricity back on very soon, what a horrible waste of food.. but thank goodness for Insurance..

I think I know what you mean. I am starting to feel the same way. I can't quite put my finger on it, but is has something to do with getting to know each other better, in that how each person has their own special, important way of seeing our world. I want to be able to share that with them. But, there seems to be so much garbage in the way. :) Remove the garbage from my own eye, so I can see clearly would be a good start.
