Are you easy to read or inscrutable?

Should I care what people think? Now-a-days, I rarely inter-act with folks out side of family members. I spoke with an elderly lady today while waiting for my wife at our local healthcare building. I asked her if she needed help folding her walker and putting it in her car. It's Wednesday and she's the only person, aside from family, that I've spoken to this week.

All this to illustrate why I rarely need to "present" a friendly, caring, etc. image. And BTW, I enjoyed a few moments of pleasant conversation with her. I'm 91 and she was only 79. Maybe I shouldn't refer to her as "elderly".

People know exactly what I'm thinking., which is a b***h, because everybody knows when I'm lying. So, I can't lie. One of my teachers said she watched me to see if her teaching was getting through. I've gotten in bar spats, because a guy "read" what I was thinking about him. I never said a word.
A very significant percentage of inter human communication involves body language.

I'm fascinated by body language. We all give unconscious signs of our true feelings.
I don't know if my face gives me away a lot but I do know usually how my husband is feeling just by looking at him. He blushes when he is upset or found to be wrong about something! He doesn't know that.

So do you have the kind of face that gives you away or can you hide things fairly well? I think I can, when I decide to.

I have wondered how I would stand up to interrogation by a trained person. They know every sign to look for.
Unfortunately, humans sometimes involuntarily convey their negative opinions of others. That's why some choose to display a concealing perpetual smile while occasionally repeating the phrase" Now that's God's honest truth!" while striving to deceive and secretly despising the persons whom they are conversing with. A former dental tech laboratory supervisor of mine was that way. A real piece of work!

My mother taught me that win or lose my face should be the same. My inner thoughts are sometimes hidden but most of the time they are written all over my face.

Same way I was raised: don't show too much emotion, but a coupla family members did anyway (throwing tantrums) which may be why I've especially tried not to show any emotion. Unfortunately, it resulted in Grumpy Resting Face; oh, well.

I’ve been told that I “always appear so calm,” but like a duck I can be paddling frantically below the surface. I think that Wednesday Addams expresses the thought well…
