Hello gang!!! I'm here, awake and achy of course, no plans yet
those are forming in my brain, but not ready to start them ....
Damp and rainy here, only in 60's today, a/c people may bring
by the trap today so I can set it for the stray, didn't see it last
eve of course due to rain....ah well.....catch u later on....;):coffee::devilish:

Well nobody told me it was too cool in here to take a shower, so I did and wowsa!@!!!! But I'll get over it...some nerdy ought
to invent a handheld device that you could simply wave all over
your body and it would destroy any dirt, organisms or dead cells or stink and the like....I'd buy one for sure.....@!!

Left: The morning news said Mount San Gorgonio at 11,500 feet had the first snow of the season, but I don't see it.
Right: The "Inland Empire" region is situated some 1,000 feet below the small town where we are living.

When our younger daughter was still attending elementary school, the mother of one classmate who owned such a limo, loaded the whole class into her car and drove them to an ice-cream pallor for a special treat, on occasion of the birthday of mother's daughter in that class.

Cannot procrastinate about election stuff any longer. So yes today will... At least all that noise is about to end.

Have a disorganized pile of postal mailings to sort through then read along with official election information, none of which I have looked at or made sense of. Again won't be voting for POTUS and instead write-in "The Invisible Man" since I strongly dislike both parties, much less their candidates. So will put off starting that task till late morning and then visit my polling place in the afternoon. Mostly just voting on state issues.

I have had such a busy day. Started off with the clearance guy.. and got all that stuff gone that I mentioned before.. and he came an hour early which meant I could get out much sooner. It was pretty foggy, but I had to go into our market town because I'd been promising to get 3 small gold charms onto my bracelet for ages. plus I needed a little bit of an extension on the bracelet

ti was thinking it might cost about £30 to do at most .. it's a very delicate bracelet. with tiny charms..

The jeweller was clearly taking his time to tell me something.. and I said.. what's the problem.. he said. 'you're not going to be happy, like most of the customers who come in now when I tell them .... but this is going to cost about £150 to do.. because the High cost of Gold as well as Solder.. is what's driving the cost of repair

I gasped..I said but surely the bracelet can't be worth much more than that ... ( I've had it for at least 20 years never had it appraised ).. he said I can tell you exactly what it's worth , and he proceeded to weigh it....along with the extra charms.. and I nearly fell over when he told me it's Value.. it was for a substantial amount..way more than I thought it was worth.. so I bit the bullet asked if he wanted to buy it, he iimmediately said yes.. and I left the store.. quite a bit more Finacially bouyant than when I went in..:giggle:

I drove over to a large town in the next county... and I went to the bed store.. and bought myself a brand new Queen size bed after trying out a few..chose the type of headboard I wanted, and they said they can make the base colour and material of the divan ( with drawers).. to match the headboard... and I chose the colour and materials from a swatch

It will be hand-made and ready in 2 or 3 weeks, and they've agreed to dismantle and remove my current bed.. which is a large Gas Operated Ottoman bed.. only about 6 years old . . They explained it won't go to Landfill, instead they dismantle and remove every part of it ( headboard is leather).. and everything is used in the manufacture of something else..

I'm absolutely over the moon about the bed and getting the Huge surprise with regard the bracelet...and being able to pay for the bed with that tiny little bracelet of which this morning I had no idea of it's value...

We've been rebuilding the L-shaped deck on our house, it's myself working with Dave, a carpenter friend. I built it originally in 2007, and the frame structure is in good shape, but it needed new decking and a better railing. Weather has been fluxy, so we've put in outdoor time when there's been no significant precipitation. But some days we've been able to prepare some pieces in the covered shop here. Yesterday I finished staining some boards for the railing.

Today, so far, I've dealt with firewood for the house for the next few days, and also gathering & moving some scrap pieces from the deck construction that can be burned as house-heating wood as well.

In spare time over the last several days I've been printing documents, sending and receiving emails, and writing a report for our local environmental group involved with our river. Tonight is the annual general meeting.

After I'd been to Lidl and got the Christmas snacks.. I went to Homesense and bought the Le Creuset Coffee mugs and the orange and /red Glass coloured vase ...see this thread peeps.. What have you bought recently?

then I stopped at the coffee house ( all these places are on the retail park). for coffee.. 11.30 am.. very surised how busy it was.. very large coffee house ( Costa ).. and almost every table was taken.. a few years ago that would have been very odd , on a weekday.. on a reatial park well away from business or town centre.. but since the concept of ''working from home' there neer seems to be a quiet period anywhere now...

At this point I hadn't even been thinking about looking for a bed.. .. it was only after I drove out that I remembered thay had this really god bed store in this town, so i drove over there... and my bracelet bought me a bed...

When I'd done there.. I drove over to the Frozen food superstore.. and got some Chinese pork ribs..a big tray of Pineapple soda... which will last me a year..

..some Scottish mutton pies... some Lamb Bhuna.....and got chatting to 2 other ladies who were very fun

Today is Guy Fawkes night... Bonfire night .... traditionally bonfires are held country wide where an effigy of Guy Fawkes is burned .. crowds attend them and watch big firework displays.. where hot food like Soup, Hot-dogs- Burgers, baked potatoes, and hot drinks are served..

When dd was little I always took her to an organised firework and bonfire display..they're good fun for families

It's in memory of Guy Fawkes the explosives expert who carried out a failed gunpowder plot in 1605 underneath the house of Lords in London.. He was tried for High Treason, and executed by hanging/drawing and quartering.. a horrible death

Fireworks are not just restricted to Organised displays in parks tho', ... but many households let them off in their gardens all night on the 5th doon after it gets dark.. and that's what's happening now all around me.. it sounds like I'm in the midde of a war zone..

Just back from Costco Business Center - decided to get some Christmas cookie ingredients I'm short on. Later this week I'll start making and freezing dough for the cookies that are unaffected by that. Some have to be made right before baking, but not all.

I did this last year and was glad of it when baking time came. Still need to set dates for our holiday parties. Not much time between TG and Christmas Eve again this year. Only 25 days. Ugh...

It has been a busy day, played golf with our men's golf group, played poorly but I enjoy the company. While I was doing that wife was hosting a weekly mahjong party at our house.

Now we are already planning what to have for Thanksgiving dinner. I do 90% of the cooking and wife likes that. We are asking our friends and neighbors if they have plans for the day. We invite anyone who is on their own to come share our meal with us. No one should have to spend the day by themselves if they don't have anywhere to go or anyone to share it with.

I did my nails, then went to vote. After voting, I went downstairs to do laundry. Unfortunately, two of my neighbor-friends (a couple) went down right behind me and another neighbor came down later. If I had gone down one minute later, I wouldn't have been able to get the machine I always use. We could barely stay out of each others' way.

This is why I liked going down in the middle of the night. But my neighbors warned me about doing that because apparently someone has been leaving one of the gates open, so anyone can wander in. I was surprised because that gate is weighted (hard to open) and automatically slams shut, but they said a rock is used to keep it open. It is right next to the parking lot's automatic gates that need key fobs to open them. Some people just have no sense.

Diva, when we'd go out for lunch or dinner, my wonderful mother always checked the dessert menu before deciding on an entree. Hot fudge sundae on the menu? She'd just order that and an appetizer. It was her habit since her childhood. For breakfast, she also preferred sweets - a danish, pancakes, toast with jam, etc.

Not saying she didn't also eat healthy foods because she did. They were simply never her preference. A bowl of supermarket ice cream would have always rated far higher to her tastebuds than a meal prepared by a Michelin chef.

Funny thing is, she was an excellent cook, but almost never baked and rarely made sweet desserts, though her house was loaded with candy and other purchased sweets.

p.s. She lived to 92. I've always believed the heavens rewarded her kind nature by arranging her genes so she'd never develop diabetes.
Your mother would have been a woman after my own heart. I'm with her, especially when it comes to ice cream. I try to eat healthy too but do prefer sweet snacks. I consider myself a good cook but can count the times on one hand that I baked sweet desserts. I have a whole storage tote full of candies (chocolate and hard) and they last me a long time.

How wonderful that your mother lived so long with no major health issues. I do have diabetes, so my sweet tooth is not the best thing to have. My mother ate things that probably contained too much fat, being a Southern cook and she smoked until she was in her 40s, but she lived to be 97. She was known for her cakes but could never convince me to join her in baking. I've always hated to cook. We are blessed that we had our mothers until they were in their 90s. May they both continue resting peacefully in paradise.

So much has been going on, my head is spinning, I don't even know where to start!

It's been raining here, and raining, and raining, and raining.....
We have have had almost 12 inches of rain since Friday! The storms have kept me awake for 2 nights in a row, so I've been over tired and crabby (YES! Me, crabby! Can you believe it?!)

Yesterday, despite poring rain and flooded roads, I went to my doctors appointment, and I was soaked to the skin when I got there. So now, I'm all set up for a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks.

This morning it was Dio's turn to have a doctors appointment, so I was out in the rain again! At least the rain eventually stopped, and we got some errands done...even a trip Wal-Mart.

Amongst groceries and all of the usual stuff, I got 2 Amaryllis plants!

This is the one I got last year.

I think the two I got today are more of a candy cane pattern.

I finally succeeded in getting into my Gigantic Tickets Account after umpteen password resets.
So I now have my ticket for next weeks Corrs concert.
Haven’t seen for them eight years, which was the Blenheim Palace curfew fiasco!
Shame about the price but the only group I’m willing to shell out more than normal for.
Suzi Quattro..who I am seeing five days later is much cheaper!

When I think of Isle of Wight I think of David Icke. What an interesting man no matter what you think of him.

Sorry to be late in responding to this but I've been a bit busy. I lived (with my in-laws) on the Isle of Wight for just under a year when I was newly married then again for a few months when my husband was changing jobs and location. Very pretty place, but not a place I ever wanted to live permanently. I felt a bit trapped living on an island.

However, as my inlaws lived on the island, we went there each year for our holidays through the 70s and 80s until they moved back to the mainland. David Icke moved to Ryde, Isle of Wight around 1983. Never saw him on the island but we did once see him in Portsmouth when we were wandering around the shops prior to catching the ferry to the island.

Morning folks!!! It is coolish at 44deg F here, don't think we
get any rain today, high around 60F later....Feel kinda loggy today, too much tv I think, my head has this strange feeling like
it is swollen, really, it just seems sore and achy, ah well.....I suppose it is weather change related....got a big load of laundry to keep me busy today....unsure of any other plans...of course my sleeping pattern is messed up with the time change...welp, catch u later.....;):coffee::love:

where are you seeing the Corrs ?... I love Suzie not particularly her music which was very much a part of my teen years... but because she is genuinely a really nice person....

For all the years that I lived in Hampshire, I only visited the Isle of Wight once. We took the hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde. Only takes 10 mins. Never saw David Icke. I've also taken the hovercraft across the English channel, not long before the service ended in 2000. Neither journey was particularly comfortable.
