Will be picking up daughter and grand-pup later today. She's going shopping for a smaller Xmas tree to fit in her condo .. and decorations, etc.

Grand-pup, Abbi, will be looking for apple slices from Nana (that's me). It should be a nice day, other than the forecast of rain, and a high of just 14C.

Morning all folks!!!! Welp, got up at 6am, or was it 7am, who
knows anymore, who cares for that matter....slept okay tho, dunno yet what the day has in store....caught a mouse in the
furnace room overnite....neighbor girl got ahold of the black/white stray young cat and took it to shelter, yay, now if

feel better friend

Sunny day...I can't go out.I've been up since 8am..even tho' I didn't go to bed 'till 5am... because UPS are supposed to come and pick up the SharkVac to be returned to Amazon..but they don't give any time updates, so there's no way of knowing when they'll get here.. and also they only call once... so I can't miss them...so it's now 1.10pm... no sign of them. I'm starting to feel quite tired now....apparently they can come right up until 5pm... so I've got to stay awake.

My house is clean ..so I can't even pass some time cleaning.... to stay awake...

"Life is short; eat dessert first. Can't get much first-er than breakfast." My sentiments exactly GG! I can't tell you how many times I've had dessert after breakfast or dessert for breakfast. 😛 Hmmm...never heard of Mother's Finest before. Something tells me you're too sharp to have to worry about Alzheimers.
Diva, when we'd go out for lunch or dinner, my wonderful mother always checked the dessert menu before deciding on an entree. Hot fudge sundae on the menu? She'd just order that and an appetizer. It was her habit since her childhood. For breakfast, she also preferred sweets - a danish, pancakes, toast with jam, etc.

Not saying she didn't also eat healthy foods because she did. They were simply never her preference. A bowl of supermarket ice cream would have always rated far higher to her tastebuds than a meal prepared by a Michelin chef.

Funny thing is, she was an excellent cook, but almost never baked and rarely made sweet desserts, though her house was loaded with candy and other purchased sweets.

p.s. She lived to 92. I've always believed the heavens rewarded her kind nature by arranging her genes so she'd never develop diabetes.

Whatever it is, @hollydolly I wish I had your energy! When I see something that needs to be done, I look the other way :ROFLMAO:
Halloween night, my son & DIL lingered after the rest of our company left. We got on the subject of house cleaning. My DIL said something that stuck with me: she once heard that if a task is going to take under two minutes, do it right then. No excuses unless you're on your way out the door or urgently headed to the bathroom. She's developed the habit and has kept to it, and says it's much easier to keep things clean and straightened. (For the record, their house is always clean but livable clean, not sterile or pristine.)

Well she's ruined me with that statement. I find myself doing all kinds of little things that I'd normally put off, just because. Not sure how long this will last, but in truth I'm kind of enjoying it.

Thought I'd pass it along here. Misery loves company...

I scrubbed the shower/tub combo this AM (warm white vinegar mixed with equal amount Dawn dish soap, spritzed on and left to sit for an hour really makes getting soap scum off easier)

Making butternut squash/potato/cauliflower Indian-inspired soup for a dinner meet up with a friend tomorrow. Need to pick up some naan from the store.

Have a yes-we-have-an-opening-today visit with my optometrist... couple days ago a 'floater' developed in my R eye but it's not transient... stays in one place and hasn't dissipated. Probably not a big issue but never had one like that and would prefer to have him look at it.

Finally....all those bags of financial records that were in my basement when it flooded have been (more or less) dried out. Now comes the exceedingly tedious task of looking at each paper and deciding if it can be put in the recycle bin, shredded or just a few numbers that can be blacked out with a permanent marking pen. Things like cancelled checks, bank statements and tax forms get shredded (even if I no longer have those accounts). Old bills that are no longer relevant that just have account numbers can be blacked out like cable and utility bills. The ones like home maintenance and car repair receipts get trashed - they don't have any SSN#s or account info.
So far I've gone through 3 thirty gallon trash bags of papers. I filled my recycling bin twice and have another 30 gallon trash bag of shredded paper. There are still about 15 or so regular sized plastic shopping bags to go through, but I'm taking a break. I did break two teeth off in the rollers of the shredder and the paper gets jammed into those spaces.

There we have it, 5pm the cut off time for UPS to collect my return Vac for Amazon.. and no-one has turned up. I'm not in the least surprised, it seems this is the way for just about everybody to carry out business these days.:rolleyes::confused:

Not a message from UPS or Amazon either to say they can't come.
It's very anoying there's other things I could be doing instead of waiting in for a no show.. not to mention having only 3 hours sleep to get up early enough so as not to miss them...

@hollydolly I want to run away to a place where I feel safe being out in public, where vivre et laisser vivre is the norm. Call me neurotic, but I really don't think feeling anxious or unsafe these days is based on an unfounded fear.

It wouldn't surprise me if the news tomorrow is all about mass shootings at polling places or if the news on Wednesday is all about mass rioting everdamwhere.

It's just a scary way to live when hate and meanness are acceptable ways for people to conduct themselves.

Oh...dessert for breakfast. They all actually liked it! I thought it was too ordinary.

ETA: Georgia is an open-carry state, meaning if you want to take your AR15 along while you shop for groceries, get your hair done, wherever all else you want to, that's just fine. Go right ahead. At a polling place, though, you'd be restricted to a certain distance from the premises.

well...you know you only have to hop on a plane... 🤗

I couldn’t find the exact recipe I used before, so my wing-and-a-prayer spices are: mustard and cumin seeds, garlic, garam masala, turmeric and salt and pepper. If I add anything else I’ll let you know
Thanks @CinnamonSugar. I only have ground cumin and threw out my garam masala just yesterday... too much cinnamon in it, ugh. I put my acorn squash in the oven already.

So next time for the soup I'll get butternut. We have an Indian grocery not far and I want to ask them for a different garam masala and mustard seeds. Your soup sounds so good.

Well blow me..guess whose just been..an hour and a quarter after I was told they don't collect.... 5pm they told me , it's on all the paperwork.. he turned up 5 minutes ago at 6.15pm..I nearly didn't open the door because it's pitch dark now...

Well at least it's gone, lets hope aII don't the same hassle getting my money refunded..
