Maggiecat must be getting acclimated to the time change. She didn't demand breakfast until 5:30.

Kids, it's cold out there this morning! 38F. High today upper 60s and by the end of next week lows in the upper 20s, highs in the 50s. Eek.🥶

Everything is all set out to come to room temperature for making cheesecakes.

Brandied cranberries are going to be made first so that they'll be out of the way. Whenever I make these, I'm reminded of the Cajun chef on NPR named Justin Wilson. He pronounced his name "Joos-tin" and said "I gah-rahn-tee." When cooking with wine or any kind of alcohol, he'd say "a little for (recipe)," "a little for the cook."🍷:ROFLMAO:

Is it okay if I don't bother getting dressed today? The Ladies Loungewear (with pockets) is soooo comfy.

I'm confused... Mrs. L likes the 'Teekanne' brand of flavoured teas and we usually get these in Germany when we visit the Christmas markets.
This year we're going to Norway, but I saw packs of the teas for sale on eBay. Now I'm sure I ordered the correct ones, but all the communications were for a different selection of teas. I've just received a parcel containing the teas that I ordered, and again the packing slip is for something different. Well, I've got what I ordered, but I could do without the confusion.

The weather has turned wet and miserable, so no walking today. Forecast is for rain, sleet and snow for the coming week, but the forecast has been very unreliable recently. I'll just have to wait and see.

Good Morning!

The big Mourning Doves have arrived at the feeder. Only one can fit at a time so the few others are clearing up the mat below. Poor little sparrows can't get a taste.

Thinking to make something with a chicken breast today. Maybe a basic chicken salad.

I've been mostly avoiding the News lately. No sense in getting upset.

Abundant sunshine today and cool at 46F, high to be 61F.

No rain here, and none forecast but the snow is due here on Monday..so they say, which is a bit of a concern for me because I have to drive into the city for a hospital Consutants appointment on Monday, so I;m praying they've got the day wrong.

The people who bought the sofa, are coming to collect shortly.. I can't wait for it to be gone, the woman has been a PITA tbh... for asking me to keep it for 2 weeks .. the all sorts of questions. every day.. and then despite me saying on the ad that it had to be dimantled and showing pictures of the bolts.. she asked me if I would take apart for them... ! I told them No... so let's hope they're capable of using a spanner...

Been on the push with working on project house #1. Spent almost literally two days in the bathroom solving plumbing issues. Bought the fixtures for the tub a year ago…and a piece was missing. Eventually found something that sort of works. Day of rest again today. @Pepper I am so sorry you are struggling. I have not had the news on at all since the election. If I thought abput it I would go crazy….so am pulling the ol Scarlet O’Hara…..

I went to a church holiday sale this morning. It is sort of a tradition with me to attend this particular one. Mom and I used to go to it, so that church has been having it for a while. The last few years, I've invited my aunt to accompany me, but she's not feeling up to it this year. I also heard another church was having a craft fair and I got lost trying to get from one to the other, but I eventually found it. Waste of time though - nothing I was interested in for the prices they were asking. I did better at the first sale. I got all this for $2:

@hollydolly and everybody else: the word is sNOw. Repeat after me: sNOw!

Brandied cranberries are in the fridge. Kahlua cheesecake is in the oven. Dirty dishes are in the sink.

Changed my mind about staying in Ladies Loungewear (with pockets) and got dressed.
Well lets hope you're right Gigi... I really don't want snow.....

People have been to collect the sofa. very nice respectful people but it was a crowd.. 5 people...they arrived an hour early so when I opened the door first I though it was jehovas' witnesses..lol

Anyway.. they'd brought tools undid the bolts, made themselves bleed, then in their attempt to get it out my house they scraped the Newel Post , and knocked the paint off.. :cautious:
so now I have to sand that all down and repaint it...

In the meantime I got the barn work bench and tools all covered up.... . Now it's dark at 4.30pm... I've had this to cheer myself up...

I got to run. I have on my Mrs. Claus dress. This is the day of the Holiday Bazaar at our Community Center by the river. For two days I unpacked and organized donated books. There are still books out of order. The job was overwhelming even with some really good help.

At the end of the bazaar, I will help repack the books that will go to a charity store. I hope most of the books a gone. I will be so tired and wanting to go home. Fortunately, my dinner is made and all I will have to do is warm it up. Then I will sit exhausted in my chair and try to stay awake until a reasonable bed time. 😂

Ooh! You put down a mat! What kind and how's it working out? Good idea? Not so good?
Inquiring minds want to know...
SS, for now it's just a cheap, thin beige thing I got at Ocean State for $5.00 to put in front of the couch where I usually sit.

One night my toes slid under it and I sort-of fell onto the couch. So I put it out on the deck by the entry (under overhang). I just moved it a bit left under the feeder. I can shake anything off. I'll have to think of something rubber or vinyl that I can slosh soapy water on and sweep off. No hose here.

But here in the valley, flowers are still blooming in my wife's garden

@packleader I love the Cyclamen. I used to have it in the house.

Pretty pink Hibiscus. I brought my two into the house hoping to over-winter but the pink one is dropping leaves and buds. I fed everything yesterday, I hope it survives.

We have not long returned from a rather lovely birthday party. It was held here at Holmsley Tea Rooms. A dear friend, who turned seventy-five, was treated to a rather special afternoon/evening by her husband. Shame I didn't think to take any photos, this one I found on the tea rooms website.
Holmsley, a former railway station, is more than just somewhere for afternoon tea, but it was the chosen name when the station was restored. My guess is that the proprietors, although licensed to sell alcohol, just wanted to get away from a pub image. They certainly knew how to throw a good party, that's for sure. With a bit of luck I might be able to find a few photos that others have. There is one, however, of Holmsley, in it's previous life, and although it's in black and white, it shows how much hard work must have gone into the restoration and clean up.

Tearing down the engine in Big Red. Thought it had a blown head gasket. Turns out the head is cracked.
Well, I wanted an excuse to get another engine. The domes on these pistons was too small anyway. Need more hp. :)

I'm fed up with you.. everytime you're looking for an engine to fiddle with, you never want to come and look at my car. I'll let you do it for free.. you can be out there doing all your stuff all day long, and I promise to feed you.. but Nope.. never offer to come *sigh*:sneaky:

@hollydolly @squatting dog is a fair-weather friend. He's fine until you need something, then he's a ghost. Doncha hate when that happens?

It's cold again this morning, but it was nice and toasty in bed. Maggiecat let me sleep until 6!

Cranberry scones keep taking up space in my imagination so I guess I'll make some this morning. When those are done, the caramel apple cheesecake is next up.

Today is dessert-for-dinner day. They're probably going to get Kahlua cheesecake. The rest of it will go in the freezer with the caramel apple. It's going to take an effort to rearrange the freezer to make space for cheesecakes because it's just the small one over the fridge.

Maybe the lawn will get mowed this afternoon.

Since DH decided he's hunting again, I need to clean out the freezer. First on the list is the last of some old venison. I have steaks marinating.
Quilt should be done today. I've pitered around with it long enough.
Leaves are calling but I won't see them today.
Sourdough has risen. Will be baked.

@Georgiagranny Do you have your own frig or use the main one?
