A Nice Walk ( with photos )

I must look up some info on this train which is part of a playground an hours drive from me

it’s got a walk up ramp for young kids and disabled to enter the train engine

That cheeky magpie kept eyeing me off just incase I had some spare food

I don't know why but as soon as I saw that picture I knew somehow that it was Australia. Even before I read the text and spotted the magpie. :) Anyway, good one.

Yep,the magpie gives a hint it’s an Aussie ,and it was really harassing me for something to eat

I posted a photo of the Murray river in South Aust ..once , and someone questioned me if it was actually a photograph of somewhere in the US …..then another Aussie popped up and said
….. place in the US ….With river red gums ??? …. I wasn’t questioned any more after that , some open area areas give hints where it’s taken by Aussie wildlife and trees / flowers 💐 ….@Ted51

The town centre where the train is has big huge gums as well as Morton bay figs over 100 years old

My DH was working for and seen the ship at Whyalla being pulled from the water in 1987 ( without checking )
Work stopped while they watched it take its long slow journey up to the main highway ( think 🤔 once it was loaded onto a movable tracks it was pulled by several bulldozers to its resting place.

We was actually chatting to the tourist officer at the dance we attended while in Whyalla 3 weeks ago

Today we walked 3 kilometre in the forest trail. The weather has been crazy today. I woke up to snow flurries. Then it stopped, the sun came out and on the way to our walk it started snowing again. Then the snow turned to hail pellets and back to snow again. By the time we got to our walk area the sun came out again, then halfway through our walk it turned to hail once more. Five minutes of hail and it was sunny again. It was an exciting weather day. Of course we have our winter tires on.

I’ve never seen snow @PeppermintPatty , however we are going to Canbera ACT in June ~ July which is the capital city of Australia ….and Australia's largest inland city ( most of Australia’s capitol city’s are located on the coasts ) with the exception of Brisbane Queensland …. which is on a huge wide river …

Anyway enough of a geography lesson about Australia :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:….
It snows in canbera …and areas close to it ….so we may take a day trip on snow tour while there for a month

You sure do have some beautiful countryside in which to walk and you photograph it so well.

Your area pictures are stunning post card worthy photos @PeppermintPatty
I love any photos with water / greenery as it always looks cool and refreshing .

When I moved from where I was born raised 7 hours drive from the South Australian boarder ( I was 25 when I moved to SA ) I couldn’t believe all the green areas / lawns / gardens / water in and around the city of Adelaide after living in desert like conditions all my life

One of the first areas I seen way ~ way back then ….this part ….has not changed since I moved to SA in 1970

Its right in the city , it’s called the Torrens river ..its actually all rainwater from the Adelaide hills ,it has weirs so it doesn’t run dry in summer , any excess runs out to sea in the western suburbs of the city ( called West Beach )

You’ve never seen snow? Oh my gawd. I’ve never met someone who has never seen snow. I’m shocked. 😳 I thought everyone has seen snow before. Wow! Don’t you travel outside your area.? I guess not. I sincerely hope you see snow in Canberra.

Thank you @Kadee . It IS a very pretty area. We live up on a hill overlooking the water so itv’s very picturesque. Is that river near where you live? .

I’ve been to every state and Territory in Australia. ..including ….Tasmania ( Canbera is a Territory as is Darwin, Northern Territory ) last spring we traveled through the area where they get snow ( the snowy mountains where seen Mount Kosciuszko is the tallest mountain peak in mainland Australia at 2,228 meters (7,310 feet) tall. ) but to late for snow
Cause we’d been in Queensland for most of the winter …QLD daytime temps are like a spring day ….

Ive got photos the snowy mountains where we traveled it was fairly foggy …but of so beautiful through the higher parts tree ferns / palms ….stunning ….but yea I’m yet to see snow …remember I grew up in a very dry isolated area

Well I love the snow. Most people don’t love the snow. You need snow tires. It’s dangerous without snow tires and then it takes consistant shovelling to manage it. Besides that it is fun to play in. Snow angels, snowmen and snowball fights make having snow fun. When we were kids we’d build snow forts in the backyard.

You’ve clearly seen snow from a distance. When visiting Banff out west, I’ve sat in the hot springs with snow all around us. That was fun.

Thats a river in the city ( Adelaide )

I live near a beach but we can’t see it from where our home is ..it’s a short walk to get to the beach, I’d hate to live right on the beach as our neighbours used to live in a home overlooking the water and they could not open their patio door ….as it took both of them to close it again cause it can be very windy here
