I had my children late in life. Being now 89, my oldest daughter at 46 wanted to spend a day with me. I gladly accepted. So, we drove an hour to Laguna Beach and had a wonderful time. That included a picnic on the beach. Seaweed on the first picture. It's cold today; no people around.

I got the vaccing done upstairs and down... it's almost a joy to use the Shark which is so much lighter than my Miele cannister
(y)

It's 4.30pm now and dark.. feel warm in the house which is 19 deg now beccause I put the heating on for an hour ...earlier, and when that goes off the residual heat keep the house warm for another hour or 2.. that way it keeps the high cost down...

I'm just about to go and start cooking the gammon that I initially was going to have for Christmas day lunch ... but for dinner tonight I have to use up some egg mayonaise, and some smoked salmon Mousse.. so I'll put them in a baked potato... and have that instead of the meat

I'll cool the gammon down for another day but tonight I'll make bacon and lentil soup with some of it...and then portion it up to Freeze...

I got a letter inviting me for a mammogram.. I always go..it's never been a problem for me as it seems to be for some women who find it painful.. but unfortunatey this year, they've invited me the day after I've to get dental surgery so I can't go... I'll have to rearrange another date for after january because the week after my dental surgery I'm having abdominal surgery as an in-patient in hospital, and I'm told I won't be able to drive for several weeks afterwards..
I hope it all works out.

Did some more cleaning and reorganizing in my walk in closet. The necessity was made clear when the plumbers had to access it to get to the water pipes Tuesday. I also added better protective wrapping for things I’m keeping and chose items to get rid of..

I started the process of updating my website, including adding the new album. The website edit features are not that user friendly, thus confusing and frustrating, but unlike other artist website offerings, it is free, so I bear with it. I still have more to do because one of the songs I deleted is still showing up on the mobile site. I also have to figure out (again) how to add the streaming/download links. Right now I need to figure out what I'm going to eat so I can take my evening meds.

Darned cat. She made me get up before 5.

It's not supposed to be a very pleasant day, rainy and chilly. Oh, well, better than no day at all.

Doc appt at 9 for my annual "well-baby" checkup. I'd just as soon not be bothered. Other than that, I dunno what else there is to do today because it's too early to think.

Thursday I spent several hours cleaning the bays where the hay is kept, and cleaning the spare stall for the companion horse who is supposed to be here today (Friday), in the pouring rain. Only a few years ago, I could have had everything done in two hours tops🙄🙄

I walked in the house at 6:00 PM, almost too tired to chew. Thankfully one of my precious neighbors brought me supper so I ate home made turkey sliders — boyyyyyy were they ever good.

I have enough hay to get me to first cut in the spring, maybe longer.

That's a lotta hay!!

That's a lotta hay!!
125 bales that weigh ~55 pounds each. I always try to buy for the entire year. This year I didn’t think I was going to get any hay because this area’s growing season was so bad. I have been spending an obnoxious amount of money buying Standlees bagged hay at Tractor Supply. I have plenty of pasture but since the one horse passed away, the remaining horse refuses to go out to pasture, so I buy him commercially grown horse hay in a bag🫣🫣

This hay grower‘s name pretty much fell into my lap. I called yesterday and even though he was out deer hunting, he arranged for this load to be at my farm in a few hours. It is great quality horse hay and didn’t cost any more than I have paid the last three years so I jumped on it.

Way more than you wanted to know🙄🙄

Getting out today to run errands. My house is back to normal but my few decorations are still up. Ill leave the outdoor wreaths and little Christmas tree, by the door, up until after New Year's.
I'm done pulling boxes of decos down from the attic. I made trips and got a few down at a time. Now Ill put a few back up at a time.
Hmm no one said "Where's the Christmas tree? We can't live without the memories from the tree baubles. Our Christmas is ruined!"
Nope. They came, they ate, they opened gifts, they left. I'm so glad I didn't drag it out for one day. 😊
Yes, the grands were here for two days, but still not a word about the big tree. They loved my little tree in a plant pot with tiny lights. 🎄

@hearlady it can be frustrating dragging boxes up/down the stairs these days, can’t it. How the times and our bodies/energy have changed. I haven’t been in the attic for a good year — it was an event and I had to sit on the steps to come back down thanks to the vertigo I now have from an accident.

At least now you know you can get by with a small tree and nobody will be upset🤠🤠

I think that's another stage of life is letting young people go all out on the holidays and we enjoy theirs. I won't say I won't put up a tree again. I can't say that.......yet. 😊

well it's still very much a holiday here, most places aside from supermarkets are still not back to work...

Our waste bins were to be emptied 2 days later this week because of Christmas and boxiing day.. so they were to be emptied this morning.. but they missed mine which is always out there by 7am as is the rule ... and so I tried to report it online and it says that my bin wasn't out on time.. which it was, which is really frustrating now because the waste bin will not be emptied again for another 10 days... 😖

My daughter rang, she's in tears. She's just left the vet surgery, after she begged them to take bloods from little Pixie her poorly chihuahua .

She's an excellent dog owner, she's felt that Pixie had had either liver or kidney problems this past 2 weeks, and has had her at the Vets a few of times, and they've said it's her heart or it's maybe her teeth.. and sent her away to come back in 10 days time. DD not satisfied with this, and having pixie not eatiing this last few days, she camped on the vet surgery doorstep this morning and begged them to take bloods..which they did, ( cost DD £200 ) and after 2 hours were abe to tell her Pixie has serious pancreatitis and the likelihood is she won't survive

DD is crushed, and sobbing on the phone to me because she feels that she should have been able to spot this herself.. but of course she's done everything possible that she could for Pixie... taking her to the vets several times in the last 2 weeks telling them she felt it was kidney or liver related, ..if anyone's to blame it's the Vet for not doing the correct tests..... and further to that DD lost her 2 adored and adoring labradoodles this time last year on the same day which she's not recovered from yet...

Anyway.. Pixie has to go on fluids only.. for today.. and painkillers and anti-sickness meds.. then tiny amounts of food less than 2 % fat .. but she's sooo tiny, and she already has a heart condition, so there's no guarantee she'll survive.. 😔

Today's date, December 27th, has a personal significance for me. So on this day, not New Year's Eve, I am resolving that this is the first day of the rest of my life, and I will do better. I have been given another chance and I will take it.

I have learned so much from you people. Thank you ALL for being here with me. ❤️

ps
That includes the folks I've yelled at :ROFLMAO:

That’s so sad. Having tiny dogs myself I know that they can go downhill quickly because they have little reserves. How old is Pixie? I once had 4 old dogs all within a few years of each other so they all died within 2 years and it was horrible.

Amy has heart failure and will be 11 next month. Max has been throwing up bile and he’s 7. His bloodwork was off in 2 places but we are hoping it’s a food allergy as his sister has them. I’ve switched his food again and hopefully that works.

I’m headed out shortly to travel to N Georgia to see my daughter and grandgirls. Taking the back route— more scenic and avoid Hotlanta traffic/ perpetual road construction. If I find stuff worthy of photos, I’ll post it. Here’s to safe travels 🚗🚙 and finding a clean bathroom when I need it 😆

Sorry to hear Amy and Max are both poorly , hopefully it's just a food allergy as you say.. what breeds are they ?

Pixie is 14, but she's otherwise active .. despite her elder age, she's always been very active..

yes sadly losing dogs so soon after each other beause they were roughly the same age is what's happened to DD now.. One labradoodle in 2019, then his brothers 2 labradoodles last year died on the same day after they had to be PTS.. they were 15 and 13.. and now Pixie...

This is the first time she's only hadd one dog on their own, so she and Pixie go everywhere together, she even takes her to work..

She's no stranger to losing dogs, having owned Doggie boarding kennels... and she's had 7 dogs of her own in the past , but it breaks her heart every single time...

Some of those back roads are simply beautiful even in winter. Travel safe!

@CinnamonSugar Safe travels. The weather ain't good, but up here at least only overcast and chilly. No rain yet.

Doc appt done with for another year. Kaiser says another six months. Pfffft. BP still in the "stellar" range at 119/80. Amazing what leaving Kroger has done for my BP! I gained 4 lbs since cardio visit three weeks ago. That probably means I over-ate in the Christmas goodies department. An inch shorter than last year. I drew the clock right and remembered the words. Guess that makes me a "stable genius" and eligible to be president.

Got my mega millions ticket(s). Just to be on the safe side, got two of them. I read online this morning that my astrological sign is one of five likely to win a lottery. Gonna use my winnings to zip on over to the UK to nurse @hollydolly through her surgery and to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road. And to take her trash bins to the curb.

Santa gave me a really nifty new winter jacket for Christmas, and it fit fine everywhere except through the middle. What? I guess wherever it was made is a country where people are shaped differently. Anyway, it's being returned, and a bigger size ordered. It won't be here until Saturday. I'm devasted because I thought today is tomorrow but Saturday isn't today. It's tomorrow. Got that? I gotta wait another day.

Yesterday's cinnamon buns turned out just right. Fluffy and not overly sweet. SO needs to get ready for a play date tomorrow. Back to square one as none of my purchases fit. Is it really impossible to find shoes? Penny loafers and pumps. I may have to settle for boots. SO threatens to drop me off at Tekova and leave until I have everything. Their bar is stocked nicely:)
