I hope it all works out.I got the vaccing done upstairs and down... it's almost a joy to use the Shark which is so much lighter than my Miele cannister
It's 4.30pm now and dark.. feel warm in the house which is 19 deg now beccause I put the heating on for an hour ...earlier, and when that goes off the residual heat keep the house warm for another hour or 2.. that way it keeps the high cost down...
I'm just about to go and start cooking the gammon that I initially was going to have for Christmas day lunch ... but for dinner tonight I have to use up some egg mayonaise, and some smoked salmon Mousse.. so I'll put them in a baked potato... and have that instead of the meat
I'll cool the gammon down for another day but tonight I'll make bacon and lentil soup with some of it...and then portion it up to Freeze...
I got a letter inviting me for a mammogram.. I always go..it's never been a problem for me as it seems to be for some women who find it painful.. but unfortunatey this year, they've invited me the day after I've to get dental surgery so I can't go... I'll have to rearrange another date for after january because the week after my dental surgery I'm having abdominal surgery as an in-patient in hospital, and I'm told I won't be able to drive for several weeks afterwards..
The same here.I took all the Christmas stuff down today. Tree is put away, all the decorations wrapped up, the Christmas flamingos have come home to roost in the garage for another 11 months.
Now, I'm ready to work on the New Years Resolutions that I have no intention to keep.....
I haven't made resolutions in Donkeys years... what's the point, never keep 'em@jujube I'm not gonna make any resolutions. By not making any, there won't be any to break.
That's a lotta hay!!Thursday I spent several hours cleaning the bays where the hay is kept, and cleaning the spare stall for the companion horse who is supposed to be here today (Friday), in the pouring rain. Only a few years ago, I could have had everything done in two hours tops
I walked in the house at 6:00 PM, almost too tired to chew. Thankfully one of my precious neighbors brought me supper so I ate home made turkey sliders — boyyyyyy were they ever good.
I have enough hay to get me to first cut in the spring, maybe longer.

125 bales that weigh ~55 pounds each. I always try to buy for the entire year. This year I didn’t think I was going to get any hay because this area’s growing season was so bad. I have been spending an obnoxious amount of money buying Standlees bagged hay at Tractor Supply. I have plenty of pasture but since the one horse passed away, the remaining horse refuses to go out to pasture, so I buy him commercially grown horse hay in a bagThat's a lotta hay!!
I think that's another stage of life is letting young people go all out on the holidays and we enjoy theirs. I won't say I won't put up a tree again. I can't say that.......yet.@hearlady it can be frustrating dragging boxes up/down the stairs these days, can’t it. How the times and our bodies/energy have changed. I haven’t been in the attic for a good year — it was an event and I had to sit on the steps to come back down thanks to the vertigo I now have from an accident.
At least now you know you can get by with a small tree and nobody will be upset![]()
That’s so sad. Having tiny dogs myself I know that they can go downhill quickly because they have little reserves. How old is Pixie? I once had 4 old dogs all within a few years of each other so they all died within 2 years and it was horrible. My daughter rang, she's in tears. She's just left the vet surgery, after she begged them to take bloods from little Pixie her poorly chihuahua .
She's an excellent dog owner, she's felt that Pixie had had either liver or kidney problems this past 2 weeks, and has had her at the Vets a few of times, and they've said it's her heart or it's maybe her teeth.. and sent her away to come back in 10 days time. DD not satisfied with this, and having pixie not eatiing this last few days, she camped on the vet surgery doorstep this morning and begged them to take bloods..which they did, ( cost DD £200 ) and after 2 hours were abe to tell her Pixie has serious pancreatitis and the likelihood is she won't survive
DD is crushed, and sobbing on the phone to me because she feels that she should have been able to spot this herself.. but of course she's done everything possible that she could for Pixie... taking her to the vets several times in the last 2 weeks telling them she felt it was kidney or liver related, ..if anyone's to blame it's the Vet for not doing the correct tests..... and further to that DD lost her 2 adored and adoring labradoodles this time last year on the same day which she's not recovered from yet...
Anyway.. Pixie has to go on fluids only.. for today.. and painkillers and anti-sickness meds.. then tiny amounts of food less than 2 % fat .. but she's sooo tiny, and she already has a heart condition, so there's no guarantee she'll survive..![]()
Sorry to hear Amy and Max are both poorly , hopefully it's just a food allergy as you say.. what breeds are they ?That’s so sad. Amy has heart failure and will be 11 next month. Max has been throwing up bile and he’s 7. His bloodwork was off in 2 places but we are hoping it’s a food allergy as his sister has them. I’ve switched his food again and hopefully that works.
