New Year's Day 2025

Instead of going to some fireworks event of which there are a few here in the SFBA or staying awake till midnight for the 2025 New Year, this time by say 9pm, I'll be stuffing foam earplugs in my ears, then turning off the lights.

After waking due to an alarm clock set for 5:30am, will haul remaining gear at my front door into the old Forester and drive 185 miles to my season pass ski resort I've been unable to use this last week due to a holiday pass black out period. So also on New Years Day, no Tournament of Roses TV viewing or college football bowl games. And just returned this noon from Walmart where I bought a bunch of desserts like strawberry cheesecake, ice cream, and Dutch Apple Crumb pie.

There are many. The Fiesta Bowl is the big one where I live. And down in Tucson, the Snoop Dogg:s Bowl just happened . And Florida has the Pop Tart Bowl 😄

Sacramento has an annual Pig Bowl; city cops vs city fire dept, aka the Guns and Hoses game.

It's usually played at Sacramento City College's Hughes Stadium. Draws a really big crowd, and proceeds go to crime and fire victims and a few other local charities.

Jan 2024 was the 50th Anniversary of the Pig Bowl. They had a huge half-time event that included honoring fallen officers and firefighters.
