Reflections of My Life

This morning I have a grocery order coming from Walmart. Around 11-1 it should be delivered.

Working on cleaning out two dresser drawers. Then vacuuming Rabbit's area (bedroom area) and putting down some new reusable washable doggie pads I got to replace old sheets I had down. I want it to look nicer. I also got some thin doggie blankets that come 4 in a package. If he ruins them it won't matter I can buy more. They were cheap. His usual doggie blanket is larger and thicker and he has had that for a few years now. It looks brand new and I wash and dry it often. It was more money but worth every penny.

I have learned that I need to break down the boxes I put out for the garbage. That explains why the garbage men do not take them. We all just pile them up in a corner and if they get wet like that they will not pick them up. If I break them down and put them in the dumpster they do not take up much room. So will be doing that from now on. Glad I found that out because I have a bunch of boxes in my storage locker and need to get rid of them now. I will just carry my utility knife out there with me so I can do it at the dumpster. Easier that way.

Thanks Pappy.........but she never showed up! So much for that.
Oh Wow...and she never called to cancel either ?...I hope she's not been held up by bad weather, but if she's just not turned up, that's incredibly rude...

here we have a wheelie bin for cardboard.. so to get as much in as possibe it's necessary to flatten everything...

I was just thinking that when i was young, even a kid, we had 6 people in our house, and we had one little trash bin, and it was never overflowing..
today there's just me and I have 3 wheelie bins as do my neighbours each house .. one for cardboard and recycle.. one or grass and cuttings, and one for general waste....

Incredible to think that we throw so much away today compared to yesteryear

When I was a kid we always had a burn barrel and the food scraps went to various critters.

It was a big right of passage when you were considered old enough and responsible enough to burn the trash.

I got quite a bit done so far today. I am almost at my limit. Grocery delivery, had something to eat (small breakfast today because I had things to do), vacuumed and made some changes in the living room zone. In three minutes I can start the Creami (ice cream maker) so can take a break before I clean Rabbit's cage. After that, I am done till supper.

You might remember I was considering throwing out my house plants. Well, I decided to wait and see if the African Violets were going to bloom again or were they over their age limit. One I have had since my father died in 2012. And he started it long before that. So have no idea how old it is. This morning...........

The photo of your violet made me wonder if you’ve ever considered or tried growing greens or sprouts for your bunny.

Well we had some snow last night. Snow removal woke me up and I slept longer than normal. I don't mind snow. To me it is beautiful and I enjoyed it when I lived in the forest. The silence. Hearing the chickadees and blue jays. Hearing it crunch under my feet as I walked along a path. My horses loved it and would be running and rolling in it. My horse, Georgie Girl, liked me to scoop some up in a shovel and hold it for her to eat it. Took some getting used to the winter in a city. But I am adapted to it now. Now I rarely go out in it because I am careful about walking where I might slip and fall.

I worry about my son with this ban on cigarettes being talked about in the news. He is badly addicted and goes nuts when he can't get one. I hate that he smokes but I am afraid what it would do to him if he doesn't have them. Yes, I am afraid of what it is doing to him having them now but it is an addiction that he does not want to give up. That is the reason I buy his tobacco for the month when he gets his check. I keep it here and give him a bag when he needs it.

When someone has mental issues it is hard to change what they do if they do not want to. So I live with it. If they just reduce the nicotine I think he will just need to smoke and buy more. Increase the profits for the tobacco companies.

I will be working on the bedroom area of my apartment today. Cleaning the big dressers inside and out. Vacuuming under one of them (the one I can move). Other than that I am not sure what else. Probably more coffee today.

Monday morning! Well, technically, Monday afternoon......12:03 PM as I am writing this. A bit of snow coming down right now. I have already gone out to the dumpster and back. Got a grocery delivery for my son and took it up to him. He pays for his own groceries. I keep certain items out of the order in my apartment so when he has run out I have a back up for him. I used to end up giving him my food but since he gets more money than I do I don't feel bad making him buy his own. He is good with that.

Did not have time to stop and cook breakfast so now I am making keto ice cream replacement meal. I am trying to fix up the bedroom area for my bunny. It looks kind of scruffy right now. I bought some doggie blankets & pads, a washable runner rug and 2 beach towels. Not sure when I will start work on it but hopefully, this week. He deserves it to be the best I can make it.

Today is my in-laws birthdays. My MIL died in 2008 the day after her birthday. Her room was full of people and had a cake that day and the next day she died. I will never forget her death even though I have been with many people when they passed away. I worked as a CNA and it is part of the job. Even though if she was still alive she would hate me for moving away from my home and husband. I did what I had to do.

I got the bedroom all finished. Vacuumed and changed the sheets that were on the floor for the new beach towel. It looks much nicer. The carpet runner rug will go in front of the dressers and that will have to wait. Can't do it tomorrow because I have an appointment with the House Calls nurse from UHC.

I bought these Cajun style Andouille and they are very spicy and good. But so frustrating to get out of the packaging. 4 sausages in the package but they are vacuum sealed each separately and I had to fight to get them out of each package! Tired me out! I don't know if I will buy them again.

Have you tried using scissors?

Today I have my appointment. Not sure the exact time the House Calls nurse will get here. She said sometime between 8 and 12. Easy way to earn fifty bucks! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So at first Rabbit would not walk on the new towel and pad I put down to get to his cage. Uh oh! I was worried. I carried him to the cage and put him in. When he came out, he had to walk on it. Smelled it all over. Went back a short time later to smell it again. Normally I would have washed everything before putting it down but he needed it now. So it has those smells from manufacturing on the towel. I can't smell anything on the pads. But of course, the pads are made specifically for dogs so they would not want any smell on those.

This is how it looked yesterday afternoon. That thing taped to the back of the dresser is to prevent him from chewing on it. I know it looks ugly but that is the life of a bunny mom.

I have had a busy day. After my appointment was over and I had some food.........the fire alarm went off! Loud! That alone stressed me out. I was shaking as I tried to get my bunny in the carrier. Being careful not to shake him in the carrier and putting it on the walker. I heard someone yell that we had to get out. His ears are very sensitive so he was stressed out too (I think. He didn't say for sure). My neighbor and I were the only ones left on the stairs. I was told that Jeff was out of his apartment. Pretty soon someone said we could go back to our apartments. False alarm.

I don't mind it being a false alarm. But this time more people came out of their apartments and went downstairs. As I was standing there I was thinking that if I did not have Rabbit, I could probably get down the stairs but would have to leave the walker behind. So I am looking at soft sided carriers for rabbits (or cats or puppies). If he was in one of those and I carried it with the shoulder strap I might be able to manage. If I went down the stairs backwards. I think I could do it.

We were not out very long. It turned out that the alarm went off in the maintenance room when someone was working on a vacuum cleaner and it hit the alarm cord. Fires are on my mind lately so it scared me. I am not leaving my bunny behind no matter what.

Oh gosh Kat, yes do get the carrier. I'm scared for you and those stairs if there was a fire!

I think there are slides of some kind to use going downstairs. Have you looked into those?

Do you think your bunny would be ok in a sling style carrier that would leave your hands free?

I would be afraid of him getting scared and jumping out. They will jump without even be aware of where they are or what they are jumping on. That is how they break their legs. I was thinking of one like this and using the shoulder strap. Keeping him stable and close to my body while I go down the stairs.
