What do you guys think of AI (Artificial Intelligence)?

AI is poised at becoming AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, an intelligence that emulates human intelligence, and then exceeds it. What then? Hard to say. Will humanity be replaced by a superior AGI life form?
Would we have to redefine 'life'?
I had to redefine life in trying to understand the viability of a virus.

  1. Why was the computer cold? It left its Windows open!
  2. Why did the robot go on a diet? It had too many mega-bites!
  3. How does a computer get drunk? It takes too many screenshots!
  4. Why did the AI break up with its calculator? It just couldn’t count on it anymore!

Agreed that is a major problem, along with trying to feed all the carnivore species for a year on the same boat as prey, and not to mention flooding the earth with more water than is actually on the earth.
Well, in all fairness, when you speak of the 8 people supposedly repopulate the Earth after rain for 40 days and 40 nights, I know from experience of living in a place that was borderline Rain Forest, that much rain would definitely cause flooding, but not enough to kill every living thing except 8 people and two of every animal on earth. But let's assume for a moment that it did, and try to determine when that was.

Although there is no mention in the Bible of a specific time or date on which God told Noah to build his Ark, or when the flood happened, the flood is described in the book of Genesis. Jesus talked about the flood in the New Testament, which obviously came later. And if we are to believe that the current year 2025 is 2025 years after Jesus died, then it by simple logic the flood must have been more that 2025 years ago. Thus even if there was "more water than is actually on the earth" back then, certainly doesn't mean it would still be there today. If for no other reason, it could have simply evaporated in all those years.

But that is a biblical discussion that's most likely been done many times, and there has never been an acceptable answer to any of those questions.

Sounds like a simple misunderstanding of how rain works. If Noah, and all the rest of the inhabitants of earth were on dry land before the rain started, then the entire earth wasn't already flooded by water.

Water is drawn up from the oceans, etc..., and it falls in another place. It doesn't miraculously make more water. It just borrows from one place and deposits in another. Whoever wrote that story wasn't a scientist.

We're not a closed system though. We gain water from incoming comets. Maybe we had a mess of comets?

.... and perhaps a huge mess of solar flares to dry up the excess water so land would re-emerge after the flood.
Now we just have to figure out how Noah and his kin didn't die from all methane gas created by the animals in the other "closed" system.

After that we can figure out what they ate for about 6 months while they waited for the water to go down, so they could venture into some valley to plant a garden, seeing how vegetables don't grow too well on top of a mountain (Assuming someone remembered to pack all the seeds).

Then we can move on to the topic of how Noah hoisted an elephant, a hippo, and a giraffe up to the top of the ark and crammed them down through an 18" opening.

Well, a baby elephant calf is about 3 ft high by 4 ft long and nurses exclusively from it's mother for about 6 months.
It seems the story has more holes in it than the ark did.
I don't know, boss, where there's a will there's a way.

You do seem awfully sure of yourself for a scientist. Maybe you got to get in there and really study the problem.

Oh believe me, I have, and that's what convinced me that it isn't something a God wrote, unless of course, he is a fiction writer, in which case, it's time to come out of hiding and accept the long overdue accolades.

I am not stating that some life force we don't understand doesn't exist. To me, it's just as possible as not. However, the book of talking donkeys and serpents, and all the other tall tales is highly unlikely to be from that source. JMO

The way I see it, there are three possibilities regarding the existence of "god"...
  1. God exists, but he's a total screwup.
  2. God exists, but he's a real a-hole (he'd have to be to allow all the suffering going on in the world).
  3. God doesn't exist.
Maybe we need a vote.
No we don't need to vote. To you, God doesn't exist. Okay..........go away. Go someplace else. Go find people who will agree with you. GO!
Don't bother the rest of us. Can't make you believe, can't make you understand. Don't really care where you end up. On the other hand if you really want to know why the rest of us are such fools, in your perception..............then just ask. I have time to respond. Not my duty to convince you. God, if he so chooses, will do that.
But I can answer questions, to the best of my ability, that may be helpful or informative.

God has not given me the gift of faith. I am a sheep in the cold.
the problem is you want something to feel better. The gift of faith is simply reading and understanding that Jesus died for your sins.
He did that.
If you believe that, then, you are not in the cold. If you can understand that, (Jesus died for your sins) than God has accepted you.
You are his child and he will protect you for ever and always. Very simple, maybe too simple for most. Doesn't absolve you from your sins in terms of repercussions for those sins but it does mean that the burden of guilt has been lifted from your soul.
Believing is not a "get out of jail" free card. It is not a free pass to your current life.
It is the aid you need to change and turn your life around.
Want relief, take a pill.
Want to change. Want to live differnt. Want to make your life differnt. Then just ask God to help you and then ...........................LISTEN!

It is your duty to spread the word, not to wait for our questions, not to enlighten us that you don't care.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. --Mark 16:15

I ask for help all the time. And I listen. And I get answers, but not from God. From family dead and living, from the universe, from the core of myself which is both my family and the universe. But I thank you.

It is not my responsibility or duty to convince you. I can merely point out that there is help. That there is a place to go. You need to confront God, be bold. You need to reach out and want to know. Don't talk to me, close your eyes and talk to God. Forget your expectations, forget what you expect. Call to him and then be quite and listen. Will He come, when you expect? No.
But he will come to you. Be prepared to expect what you did not ask for. Be prepared to think about what you are hearing. Be prepared. You want the truth? Be prepared, have the courage too, at least acknowledge that what he is telling you has some validity.
Let me know.
