What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

I just watched Emilia Perez on Netflix. Some of the musical numbers felt cringe worthy, like they were just stuck in there to make it a musical. Also, I just read criticism from trans critics on the portrayal of trans people. Whew! But I was transfixed, could not look away, ie, like watching a train wreck. I'm interested if anyone else saw it and has an opinion.

I saw it, totally entranced. I think all your criticisms are valid, but I was entranced anyway. Happy Selena Gomez can show emotion! So deadpan in Only Murders in the Building.

Back in Action with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx on Prime. Good story about CIA agents who retire for 15 years and then go back to their former life and fight enemies for a very valuable object. I liked it a lot. It does get pretty Wild West but it was a good watch for me.

The Book Thief...not well known. I had read the book, so when I found it at a used video store, I got it. Haunting and heart-breaking story. LOVED IT.
Watched it last night based on this recommendation and thought it was excellent. I was pretty sure I'd read the book because the title sounded so familiar but quickly realized I hadn't.

I also watched "Thelma" earlier in the week. Another excellent movie. Stars (94 year old) June Squibb and an elderly but still magnetic Richard Roundtree.

Highly recommend both of these. Don't know if they're streaming anywhere because I borrowed the DVDs from the library.

To commemorate MLK day, we watched The Riot Report on Kanopy. Interesting PBS documentary!

When Black neighborhoods across America erupted in violence during the summer of 1967, President Johnson appointed a commission to determine what happened, why it happened and what could be done to keep it from happening again. The bi-partisan commission’s final report offered a shockingly unvarnished assessment of American race relations that would doom its finding to political oblivion.

I went out to the movies yesterday to see The Brutalist. It is 3 ½ hours long but at least it has an intermission. Adrien Brody was incredible and I liked the film but not sure it should've won best of the year from Golden Globes.

This looks like a must-see. Brody is one of the best actors working today, and this is the type of role he really shines in. Looking forward to it.

We watched Under Suspicion this evening starring Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman. It was a decent movie. You can't go wrong with those two actors.

A wealthy attorney in San Juan comes to the police station for "10 minutes" of follow-up questions to finding a 12-year-old girl's body in a park. Another young girl was also raped and murdered weeks earlier and the evidence points to him.

This is a prequel, and so you don't need to watch the first two movies first:

Samira (Lupita N'yongo) heads into New York City with a group of the patients from her hospice clinic that changes her life forever. With the invasion of an unknown species that relies only on sound, the story of A Quiet Place truly begins.

Unlike a trailer, this clip doesn't give too much away:

Less an "alien monsters battle" flick. Almost all about a slice of "Sam's" life during a horrific time. Not full of gore, more tension horror.

Currently on Amazon Prime with subscription and elsewhere.
I hesitated to watch this because I thought A Quiet Place, the first movie was just stupid. But the trailer looked interesting, so I watched. I liked it but not enough to watch it again.

@Lady I watched those Crocodile Dundee movies twice.
@Lara Red One is on my watchlist. Due to your review, I'll probably watch it sooner than planned. I love Dwayne Johnson and had watched him in Red Notice a couple of weeks ago.

Well, we got tired of the repetitive Christmas songs played on the radio, so we put on Die Hard (1988) while we were opening gifts. But when the gifts were finished we went ahead and watched the flick to it's conclusion for the umpteenth time. Still enjoyable despite the early frequent use of dirty language.

Then with nothing else planned we watched Home Alone (1990). Still funny. So, together with The Bishop's Wife (1947) on Christmas eve, we took a chunk outta the Xmas movie repertoire, which will hold me until next year!
I love "Brucie" and I've watched all the Die Hard movies, some twice. Just finished rewatching the franchise a couple of months ago.
