What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

"The Good Shepherd", produced and directed by Robert DeNiro. Stars Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and several other A-listers, including DeNiro, who plays the first CIA Director "Wild" Bill Donovan. A long film, 2 hrs. 45 minutes. Involves Damon playing a CIA counter-intelligence officer, his beginnings at Yale, and some of the stuff that happened in the early 60s with the CIA.

Entertaining, but kinda dull in spots.

Last night on Turner Classic Movies channel ,they were showing a couple Gene Hackman's movies in honor of his 95th birthday. He is my #1 all time favorite movie actor
At 8pm I watched 1971 movie' The French Connection' about a NYC detective{Hackman} and his partner{Roy Schnieder} stop an international gang trying to smuggle heroin into NYC The highlight of the film is the heart stopping car chase scene. Hackman did some of the driving. The film won 5 Oscars, inc Best Actor{Hackman} his 1st

Cindy and I came up with our own rating system. Zero Large Pizzas is the Best rating. Five Large Pizzas is the Worst rating.

There is so much Cheese in this movie, I give it Five Large Pizzas.

Beatles '64, the Martin Scorcese documentary that had about 21 minutes of new footage. I've seen so much Beatles footage I couldn't tell what was new, but I thought this was very enjoyable. I hadn't been expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I too am a big Hackman fan. As you say, he was phenomenal in The French Connection. Watched it a half dozen times. The sequel, French Connection II (1975), wasn't quite as good, but still a very good movie.

He was great in so many pictures, but a personal favorite of mine is The Conversation (1974), directed by FF Coppola. I must have watched that one 10 times.

I watched Inside Out, the Disney animated movie, yesterday. Yes, I’m almost 67 but I enjoy G rated movies. This was a good one, in my opinion.
If you liked Inside Out, perhaps you'd like Coco. An adult told me about how good that movie is and I agree; thoroughly enjoyable and heartwarming even.

Now a big deal is being made about The Wild Robot, which is showing on Peacock. It's being touted as the best animated film of 2024, something to be "experienced". I'm adding it to my watchlist.

"Flight Risk" was the name of a movie hubby and me saw in our little home town Theater last week about 2 airplanes blowing up !! Gave me the Hebby Jeebies..
And then to have seen just this week on our TV, about the plane crashes in real life !!!!! OYE !!

I just finished one on Netflix called "The Menu". It was....um.....interesting. A tongue-in-cheek horror movie, it's about "a meal to die for"......literally.
I watched this one last night. I can only give it 2 thumbs up(y)(y) since I didn't find the ending as "terrifying" as it was supposed to be, just plain silly.

We're watching Giant, with Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean.

Not my pick, but I want to see how it turns out. We watched half this evening and will finish it tomorrow evening.
I loved that film when it came out! It was a huge hit, and would have cemented James Dean as a major superstar had he not tragically died a year before Giant's release in 1956. Excellent writing, photography, and acting. 70 years later, the picture seems a little anachronistic, but it still has powerful scenes.

Funny story: In the early 1970s the band I was in was with Warner Bros. Reprise records. At one meeting we were offered any Warners picture we'd like to see, and to be treated to its showing in one of their small 25-seat executive viewing theaters. The picture we chose? You guessed it. Giant. Great experience.

Watched on Netflix - Love is in the Air. It was a nice, romantic comedy that takes place in
Australia. Loved the scenery, and the good feelings it evoked. The actors were beautiful. It contrasted the world of London and the laid-back world of Whitsunday and Airelie Beach, in Queensland.

Giant, one of my all time favorites too...the acting and story are unforgettable.
