The foliage is stunning Mark

I found this video online showing the development of a flower a a leaf. Each leaf looks like an exotic palm tree at least in size.

I always think of Africa he mentions they get some plants from ,…. but I always think of Africa as a desert
So it must have some really lush area , I believe some begonias come from SA as well

There is another giant flower that grows in Borneo but Africa has a lot of climates including some rainforest. I went down a different YouTube rabbit hole leaning about your cassowary in the rainforest in you northeast.

What about a simple snapdragon , due to my horrible limestone soil I’ve got allot growing in pots

I planted these in the same pot I’ve got bankisia roses planted in ( only planted Roses .last winter )

This is a pitcher plant. I saw them at the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park in Pensacola. I was taking a walk there several years ago. It was organized by the Florida Trail Association. The photo is not mine. I borrowed it from the State Park page. It is an endangered plant species. Quite delicate plant.

We had a very hot day yesterday and it’s going to be hot again today so tomorrow I’ll be canning peaches again

Ohhh! Thats not good. Those metal clips get in the way. We wouldn’t be able to use those except maybe for jams .

It’s claimed you can pressure can in Weck jars ….but I can’t….. I even tried … extra clips …no luck ..
this jar of apples is 4 years old

I got photos of some good ones at Longwood gardens when we visited in July of 2005.

This is called an oyster flower, oyster plant, boatlily or Moses-in-the-cradle, among other names. It is Category II invasive. I took this pic in FL, where it seemed to be growing wild. Someone may have planted it in the past because they are grown as ornamentals.

That is even more blue than the flower of the Tibouchina organensis 'Blue Moon' I just got at the Santa Cruz botanical garden on our visit on Saturday. Buying plants is my one indulgence where retail therapy is concerned but I always put a limit on myself. This time it was just one plant. It's flower is actually not as blue as yours, closer to lilac but the foliage is also special.

That photo was taken from the internet but the first two flowers just opened on the plant I brought home Saturday. I'll post pics of it on my diary thread and then link that here after.
