Do you have an Air Fryer?

We frequently reheat food in the microwave. However, we just had the equivalent of a "Bloomin Onion" at Texas Roadhouse and took most of it home. I managed to keep it crisp during one reheating but after that it was so soggy it was inedible. I also find that pizza isn't good reheated in the microwave.

Our house came with a Thermador oven that we rarely use, but since it is almost 25 years old it takes forever to heat when I want to bake anything.

So, I just ordered an air fryer to reheat foods like that. I know I can bake fresh salmon in it without waiting 25 minutes for it to heat up. For those of you who have one, is there anything else you use it for? Any recommendations? For example, if I buy something like Gorton's frozen fried fish can I use the air fryer? I'm just not sure how it compares to the oven instructions that come on the box.

I have a toaster oven that supposedly has air fryer capabilities.
I was unimpressed with anything I made using the air fryer options.
I would reheat a bloomin onion in my toaster oven - never the microwave.

Its my understanding that a true air fryer uses convection heating.

No, I’ve made an effort to reduce the number of small appliances.

I reheat and crisp things in a hot oven.

Leftover pizza is nice if you butter the bottom of the crust and reheat it low and slow in a covered cast iron skillet, think grilled cheese. 🐷

I’ve noticed some prepared foods suggest a MicroBake approach where you thaw the item in the microwave and crisp it in the oven. I’ve found that to be a good compromise.

There is really no right or wrong answer, experiment until you find the right kitchen equipment for you and your situation.

Yep. I won it in a Christmas Raffle at my Pharmacy. If this thing ever dies, I am definitely getting another one. They only cost $40...

My Ninja air fryer is the toaster oven style. It was time to replace my Breville toaster oven.

I tend to use it as a convection oven - baking with the air so it cooks faster. It doesn’t work worth a d*mn on regular bake. It said it had preheated to 350 and was slow as molasses. Next time I put in my oven thermometer and it took 9 minutes to reach 325. Other than that, I like it.

I have my second Cuisinart multi purpose and a back up in the attic.
Please read the instructions. Preheat just like an oven. Do not leave it alone!!!! You will be surprised by the cooking speed. If you have a model with the pull out basket look at liners which cost very little and save on clean up.

Leave space for air to circulate. It is nothing but a tiny convection oven on steroids.

I cook everything from meat loaf, hamburgers, brats, breaded chicken, corn bread, pan cooked vegetables/potatoes in it. Burritos come out nicely but require you to stand watch. No "naked" chicken/meat.

Great for junk food from pizza to anything breaded and reheating including rolls/biscuits.

You may want to contact customer service and ask for user support to walk through this with you. Something could be off.

The first one I bought was a small one as I didn't think we would use it much. It makes very nice chips btw. We now have a bigger air fryer and use it most days. I still use the microwave for steaming vegetables and fish but, otherwise, it goes in the air fryer.

Experiment with the timings as it is easy to overcook. Also use liners, they make cleaning it after use much easier.

When our microwave needs replacing, I am going to have a look at the ones which can air fry too.

I have yet to find a way to heat Gorton's frozen fried fish that works as well as I would like, but my most acceptable results came from heating them 60 seconds in the microwave, then heating the rest of the way uncovered in a regular 375° oven for 5-6 minutes (or until the desired level of brownness occurs).
