That comment surprised me also... "nobody seems to understand" except him? What amazes me is that anyone thinks we don't understand how (and why) it all works.

We did DST all year one time in the 1970s due to an energy crisis. The result was that we went to school in the dark. At least with EST, we have light in the morning which is safer (and warmer) for the kids going to school. Of course, I'm talking about school in the city where public transportation was the way to get there. What amazes me is nobody seems to understand that we only get X number of minutes of sunlight per day, regardless of when we start counting. Daylight savings may have made questionable sense in the 1700s, but today we have electric lighting. So, we either turn the lights on in the morning, or turn them on at night, according to DST. Either way, there's no bonanza of savings.
When we lived out in the sticks we had school buses, but it was a mile walk to and from the bus stop. They didn't come down our road at all, much less stop at the house.I'm talking about school in the city where public transportation was the way to get there.
well we went to school in the dark in the city.. and walked there 2 miles... still here to tell the tale....We did DST all year one time in the 1970s due to an energy crisis. Was it uphill both ways, too?well we went to school in the dark in the city.. and walked there 2 miles... still here to tell the tale....
Spring forward makes 1:00 the new noon. For at least 250,000 years, "noon" was when the sun was the highest in the sky-12 PM. There's no real good reason why we have to pretend 11AM is noon for part of the year.
Worse, changing our clocks can be deadly. For at least 250,000 years, "noon" was when the sun was the highest in the sky-12 PM. There's no real good reason why we have to pretend 11AM is noon for part of the year.
Even for doctors appointments?Everyone should be free to decide for themselves what time it is. If that doesn't work for everyone else, GOOD.
Might require synchronizing calendars and watches.Even for doctors appointments?
Medicine and doctors are all fubared. As someone who ha been in medicine on several different levels, I can say this with confidence.Even for doctors appointments?
