For the unvaccinated for covid 19. A short question.

When Covid first started, I got it. At first, we thought I had a 1st rate sinus infection. Well, I did for that is where it hit me. I was given an antibiotic and my immune system went into overdrive.

Sick? Fevers of 104+ for a couple of days, to the point where my body was twitching involuntarily. The nurse asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital and I told her, no way, as it was full of germs over there. How's that for irony? Then she asked me if I wanted to be tested for Covid? What? Of course I did. 3 people had already died.

So, I was tested. The day after the test, I felt like a million dollars. Fever broke and I was raring to go. So typical of me. The downside? My test came back positive, so quarantine was still in place. An Epidemiologist came every day to take my antibodies as they did not know how to treat it and were working on a vaccine.

After the vaccine came out, I took one Pfizer and got sick all over again for a day or two. Last time I took it. My pharmacist told me it was a scam and not to take it ever. I listened and have been fine.

All in all we had 5 deaths, which was very low in our state.
Are you saying only 5 people died of Covid in NJ?

For anyone who decided the covid 19 vaccine was not for them for whatever reason, did your relatives and/or friends ever apologize to you for any social mistreatment because of your unvaxxed state?

None of mine ever did but no one shunned me or excluded me or even argued with me about being unvaxxed so I think I must fortunate in this. :)
The few who disagreed with my choice to not take the jab have not apologized, but I didn't expect that to happen. The wahoo flu was about much deeper 'issues' for some.

I didn't apologize for excluding unvaccinated people from an outdoor baby shower for my very pregnant DIL and soon-to-be grandchild. No apology necessary. Their choice and my choice. The relationships weren't damaged.

It was one of those, "You gotta do you and I'll do me" times of life.

If the unvaxed are a danger to the vaxed, what's the point of the vax?

are people still asking this question 4 years later?

nobody claims vaccination stops you getting Covid - it does however much limit the severity and the spread

Most vaccines also take around 2 weeks to work - your system takes that long to build up antibodies - so getting a vaccine and then getting the disease a week later is certainly possible.

Obviously that is why people should get vaccinated for any disease before there is an outbreak

yes indeed. I would too - protecting vulnerable people is first priority.

as people regularly d o with whooping cough vaccine too - ie not let people be in close contact with the baby unless they are vaccinated.

This isnt a unique thing to Covid - nor in Australia is relevant vaccine requirements for jobs in medical fields, child care etc.

MMR, polio, chicken pox, and other vaccines, as well. Non vaxxed would be dealbreakers if my kids were young.

When my first grandchild was about to be born, our daughter asked us to get Tdap vaccines (which we'd never had). We headed to the doctor straightaway and got it taken care of. Tdap protects against tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (whooping cough).

Yes it is the whooping cough vaccine that is relevant for adults in close proximity to newborns.

However it does not come as a single vaccine, is always in combination with tetanus and diphtheria.
Tdap initials stand for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

Judging by the last few posts I am surprised we humans are still around! By the way a few people are talking...is we are nothing but huge disease factories just itching to pass on our diseases to others, LOL!! Such a load of malarky.
When we had our kids we NEVER asked our parents, friends or grandparents to get shots! We would have been told to eff off in a not so polite way! Who does that?
So if we humans are just walking petri dish of disease how ever did we survive prior to 1980 (when most initial vaxxes were commonplace)? How?
Second in response to the vax comments above...if the vax works why does it matter if we have it? I love that statement! And yes the govts did say that if you get the shot you WONT get da vid, you WONT pass it on, you WONT get sick or end up in hospital.
Last but not least, You or any govt can not force me to do anything I don't want to in the sake of others. At least in Canada, Poland, Czech and many others.
And if you are saying to 'do it to protect others', stuff it! I protect me, by staying healthy, eating right and exercising. You do you, i'll do me!
Cause we could easily turn this around on others. Obesity in Canada is approaching 60 percent. SO why dont we go after all the obese and shame them? Fire them, block them from restaurants and coffee shops etc. They are costing the health care system more than 50 percent of our budget! Now we have long waits and lines and hallway medicine because we have to deal with these obese people!
I don't wanna hear no bull cheet about my hormones, or a condition or anything like that. Its called eat garbage food look like garbage. Put the fork down and your weight goes down! So sick of excuses from these people. Up the exercise, health goes up!
My father was a hockey player, in the winter, baseball in the summer, martial arts and fulltime officer of the law. Was in great shape, never sick, always someone I looked up to. Got a cushy govt job after retiring as a cop (still 50's), stopped playing sports and martial arts, spent more time on his butt and got fat. Then got sick. Retired at 71, sat around, ate crap, got sicker, got fatter, and died.
There is no secret to staying healthy and living a good life. Its simple. Just that everyone has an excuse, until its too late.

People are still talking about it 4 years later because the truth is now coming more clear. It was all political! The shots did nothing. Protected no one. Saved nothing. A money grabbing scam of biblical proportions. Too many studies out of Harvard, Oxford etc showing that these shots saved no one, protected you from nothing, did NOT prevent anything, and are now clearly doing more harm then good! All for a thing that was no worse than the cold and flu. So yeah, we are still ticked off!

Who does that?

well, commonplace in Australia - and grandparents. fathers, mothers are happy to comply and have whooping cough vaccine to protect newborns

as to why we are still around? survivor bias right there - reality is many people are not still around, they died in childhood of now preventable diseases like diptheria, whooping cough etc or spent life times with repurcussions from polio, measles, rubella etc

so, you can remain ticked off and think it is all political, some money grabbing conspiracy etc - not engaging further on that. I see nobody else is either.
Bye.

Yea, I put this guy on ignore months ago. Funny, though...I don't have to see his posts, and yet I know exactly what he's regurgitating. LOL.

Conspiracy theorists are tiresome, aren't they?

Our son hates most vaccines because he is afraid they will make him sick, like the flu vaccine does. However he got Covid early on, he was pretty sure he was going to die, very high fever everything hurt and he couldn't sleep.I was calling him 4 times a day until he told me I didn't need to call so much. Then I knew he was going to live. Then when they came up with the vaccine he said he never wanted to that sick again so he has had several shots. Then the 3 of us got covid at the same time but because we had all had the vaccine none of us got very sick.I have COPD, he has diabetes we were sure glad we got the vaccine and boosters.

Oh give me a break. Take a look at the stats. People didn't die like you say they did. In fact after the 1930's when cleanliness, sanitation and better medicine became more avail and more the norm, the death and sickness rates disappeared from their even miniscule numbers.
Where do you get your information that death was everywhere? Funny my grandparents and parents never saw this. Only in Australia?

Oh and survivor bias? What the heck are you talking about? Are you referring to covid? If so, yeah I am one of the 99 percent of people who never succumbed to the cold and flu scamdemic!

I love the conspiracy theory label you put on people. Can't dispute their facts with facts or debate anything. If it goes against anything you think...conspiracy theorist! Pathetic.
It's sheep like you that are tiresome. People that believe the garbage put out by govts as de facto truth, when its proven to be lies. Just good little sheep that will take their pharma meds until they die a costly death in the corrupt pharma system. They got you right where they want! Good little sheep...

Why in the heck would he get the shot? He had it! He developed the best antibodies ever! Anytime you get something you develop the protection for it. Common knowledge! Why would he take an experimental shot for something that he already had? Not to mention the shot didn't even work...

The vaccine became political and I posted on a community bulletin board that I heard that the vaccine turned Republicans into Democrat's and Democrats into Republicans but after I posted it I realized this was no joke and I could be hurting people so I removed it after looking at it and yes laughing as I even drew pictures but no one saw it unlike other anonymous nonsense I sometimes post .

It became political in US.

Not in every country. Of course there were difference of opinion and opposition criticism, as it is their job to do - but all political parties were on same main page about vaccines, masks etc.

Besides cleanliness, antibiotics were also a huge help in combating viral illnesses. :giggle:

is that suppossed to be a sarcastic remark? Not sure

Antibiotics are of no use in combating viral illnesses, only bacterial ones
Maye you're thinking of Penicillin. My family doctor always prescribed Erythromycin for viruses. It always worked and I still use it for that if necessary.
