I go to church with my wife

I go to church with my wife because it’s no fun doing things alone. She appreciates my presence and I her’s, so I take my tablet with me to occupy the time and distract me away from the sermon.
All sermons are realitivly the same, Jesus loves you, you must love Jesus and because Jesus is the son of god, you must love god because created you and you owe it to god because god loved you first, so much he gave his only begotten son so you will be saved from sin. Around and around we go with nothing but faith holding everyone hostage.
I don't care about your relationship with God, but am pleased you understand that keeping her happy, requires a touch or patience, tolerance and a tablet. 😅😅😅

I remember only one time, as a grade schooler hearing anything about God and sitting in church for the first time next to my grandmother. The only part of the sermon I remember is something about aweing God. I asked grandmother who told me it means fear God--she forgot to explain that fear is not to fear God, but the consequence that you bring upon yourself when you sin. Anyway, I thought to myself, If I'm to fear God, I want nothing to do with Him.

Fortunately, I didn't dwell on it. Life went by, no church services, I guess a few bible lessons, but living without Christian teaching, or any other. I don't know why, but when I heard God's Word here and there, the words gave me a good feeling. And so I began to learn more of God(I AM's) Word from the Holy Bible. No more fear of God. 👍

So, looking at the earth and its creation by god...
Earth facts...
Earth tilts between 22.1 and 24.5, but science takes the number of 23.4 degrees in the 2 science books I looked into. Taking this number as accepted, and take it from a 90 degree angle equals 66.6 degrees.
The earth revolves around the sun at 66,600 mph. (66627 to be exact, but still 3 sixes).
Curvature of 1 sq mile is .666.

Does anyone wonder why God made earth with so many signs of the devil in his creation? 666?

No implications here, just a interesting finding.

Thoughts?

No particular thoughts, just that I once chose 6 as my "lucky" number, till I learned of 666 being the number of Satan.o_O I very quickly dropped 6? :) No more choosing a "lucky" number.

That makes a lot more sense than what my pastor told me. He said that "fear God" means "love God." I was only eleven at the time, but I was still fairly certain that fear is not the same thing as love. In retrospect, knowing now how this religion thing works, I think this may have been just another Biblical apologetic taught in seminary. Or maybe he just made it up by himself.

Reviewing this post I submitted Feb. 4, 2024 as a result of this post and many others I appreciate everyone's input on this topic of religion, church and faith. I came to the conclusion that god exists inn the minds of people who believe in god's existence. I on the other hand do not believe in god, the Bible, salvation, Jesus, heaven, hell or sin because these things are distractions from the that you don't need them to know enlightened consciousness which ideally was meant to be taught by religion prior to human greed and intervention. I surmise before religion the message was clear that you are responsible for yourself however, the invention of god provided a scape goat to take the credit of your own successes and failures.

I go to church with my wife because she enjoys my company.

Like all humans, preachers, pastors, popes are not perfect. My brother, Mike, was a pastor in the Pentecostal church his entire adult life until retirement, although I never heard him preach ... just present when he conducted wedding, funerals and said grace at family get together meals. He wasn't and isn't perfect. Nope, not at all. Nor perhaps his religion. You could hold all thing up to the light of day and find some fault or shortcomings. Easily.

What is perfect is a higher power, most might would call god. There are worse things to put faith in ... and some do.

I recall a believer in God(I AM) saying, they (who have not belief in (the one and only God) are unhappy they just don't know it. And rationalize why they do not believe. 🤔

Prove He doesn't exist. It's usually believers being told to prove He does..... how about atheists prove He doesn't? :)
In logic, one cannot prove a negative. A small minority of atheists have offered proof of nonexistence, but even to me, the "proof" is unconvincing. Most atheists won't offer proof for or against, because they understand such proof does not exist. Atheists simply don't have a belief in a god, and the burden of proof always lies with the person making the claim. For most atheists I have met, where a theist has a belief, the atheist just as an empty parking place, waiting for something, possibly something even profound, to fill it. One friend explained the position this way: Without proof either way, the issue of god's existence is irrelevant. That hit me pretty hard, but I think that would be logically appropriate for an atheist.

1st. there needs to be a belief that there is a being 13 billion years old that plans the lives of all humans. Were told that being made heaven & earth. Bible stories are the source of that.

I think 666 like so many things associated with "God" using that number was/is helpful in perpetuating the belief that "God" is good. In order to be good there has to be a counter to that.

I think the source or use of the number 666 comes from somewhere in the bible. Like so many of the stories in the bible trying to explain the unknown this was a way to give the opposite of good an identity.

For me it comes down to logic. I fall on the side of atheist because faith based upon bible stories or whatever others base their belief on for me is illogical.

No one can, but why is that even important to you? I spent 50 years of my life searching for proof that there was such a thing as a god. If there was I wanted to know him. I never once considered looking for proof that he doesn't exist, because aside from the fact that it's logically impossible, it wasn't even what I was looking for. My problem was that I never found proof that he did exist, which would be a logical possibility, if there were any testable evidence to be found.

I lost my love and a few months later in the 90's I met a tiny lil Blond Prostitute.
She was a $500 a day drug addict, she said that & told me about the Priests and
Bishops she regularly slept with. I didn't truly believe her but
then the lil boy, altar boy thing came out. So Nuff stuff with that.

I Didn't pay her, bought her another drink and just listened for hours about
what she had going on. It was a Tuesday night in July. I had a Jeep with doors off.
I felt like a Virgin on his first time with a Woman of the World.

Anyone read one of your great authors Neale Donald Walsch -Conversations with God - Books One to Infinity? - If I recall he had hit rock bottom and was in despair and cried out for God - and guess what he came! Fascinating books to read - some call him a fake of course - a very rich fake??

That would have been an interesting conversation, priests or no priests. Or maybe not. If I had the chance, there is one question I would love to ask: "Why?" And that could fill hours.

There is a movie that must have been inspired by Walsch. The Answer Man about a guy who made millions on books all based on his personal talks with God. He's trying to live a life of anonymity to avoid his adoring public. It's about God, but hardly faith based, but it takes no position on the reality of God. It stars Jeff Daniels, an actor who I seldom pay attention to. I like this film a lot, but I have a feeling I may be in a small fan club. It's a Romantic Comedy and especially silly, two qualities I like in films.

Sounds like an insult to your wife and to whatever church you were attending. If an adult can't devote a hour of their time to attend a service without playing with their tablet it's pathetic. Would you do the same at a funeral if the deceased was someone that you happen to dislike but was a relative or acquaintance of your wife?
People's actions rarely disturb me but this is IMHO one of worst insults I've heard. Stay home rather than make a spectacle of yourself.

And in case you think that I am a religious person - - -you're wrong. I don't attend church regularly but when we do I act in an appropriate manner whether I am interested in the service or not.

I’m a believer but we don’t go to church.
I have seen so many times when I was expressed my faith in God and asked for help.
When I ask I always say that I know that all things are possible through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!
Maybe God hears me because He knows how hard I try.
I used to work 12 hours a day and 12 days in a row all of the time and when I got a day off I always went fishing or hunting. My wife took our young children to a Village Bible Church and the one time that I went with them the preacher told a story to show how one wrong thing can lead to so much trouble.
He said that he found a quarter on a table and picked it up and went to the store. That was in the days when they had two or three for a penny candy. He bought a big bag of candy and ate it and then his mother thought that he was sick because he couldn’t eat his meal and so forth.
Then he said but that was a long time ago and surely god has forgiven me for that.
THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN THE CHURCH.
He said well maybe not! And the lights came back on.
Everybody laughed and he asked for someone to switch the lights off.
He said “ I can preach with the lights or without them but I am having a hard time with them going on and off”
That was weird - perfectly sunny spring Sunday morning!
Before the lights went out I was thinking to myself how can you tell if a preacher is the real deal. I knew after that that he was a good one.
