the whole lifestyle ; we have everything and so can you - freedom: freedom: freedom!! do you realize how many countries don't have it??

Of course, people can have criticisms or dislikes for any country, but don't you think this thread is really over the top with all the negative comments? Hated due to obsession with fast food, really?

Where are all the negative comments about Russia and China? How about looking at it another way? Do a poll and ask if you had to live in one of the 10 most hated countries which would it be? Would this group vote for North Korea, or Iran, or Syria, or Russia, or China over USA?
Of course no one would prefer to live in any of the countries you mentioned. Americans enjoy their freedom and don’t want to have that taken away which is why we are unhappy. We don’t want to live in a dictatorship no matter which country it’s in.

dictatorship?; dictatorship? who mentioned dictatorship I always thought it was only a foreign disease??

I don't buy any of that. I think the major factor at play is jealousy, which has been preyed upon to agitate rabble all around the world.
Who made the mess in Africa? Europe.
Who made the mess in the Middle East? Europe.
Who made the mess in SE Asia? Europe.
And it goes on and on.

You might want to brush up on history a wee bit. After all, it wasn’t just Europe stirring the pot. Take Operation Ajax in 1953, when the CIA and MI6 overthrew Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammad Mossadegh, to protect British oil interests. That single act destabilized the region for many years and helped bring about the 1979 revolution in Iran.

Also, let’s not forget how the U.S. threw a wrench into the national elections that were supposed to take place in Vietnam in 1956, as agreed upon in the Geneva Accords. Uncle Sam did that because he knew, just as everyone knew, that Ho Chi Minh would win in a landslide, and Washington wasn’t about to let that happen. So much for letting the Vietnamese people decide for themselves who their leaders would be.

I'm not pickin up hatred atm ? - more confusion - stocks and shares all a bit wobbly and on again off again deals with China - it doesn't seem like politics more like a chapter or two from the Mikado?? perhaps the cabinet needs tightening up a little - keep them from slippin off the deck??

You're right about Iran and Vietnam. We meddled in Guatemala and sponsored an invasion of Cuba, as well.

On the other hand we were locked in a global death match with totalitarian regimes in the USSR and China who had sworn to crush us and who sponsored proxy wars of their own all over the world, as in Korea. The USSR had occupied all of Eastern Europe and half of Germany. In that context I think our actions were understandable, if not ethically appealing. It's what Henry Kissinger would have called "realpolitik."

this planet seems to be too small for such diversity of human structures and languages ; we either want some of what the others have got in abundance and don't believe in their religion and wanna fight them - and any old ow - how come we all look so different??

Annnnd here we go again.......
