And we have been taking thousands of British immigrants over the years since? - cheap or non- existent fares paid by ozzie govt?? and still they keep coming!!

I accept he was democratically elected as far as any evidence shows by the Usa populas.
but I was also dismayed at the behavior demonstrated by the same democracy breaking into the buildings of democracy - ransacking it and terrorizing the existing members?? - was that democracy?

Yes, of course it was democracy. After all, democracy is basically MOB RULE.

might be in thailand but never was once in Greece??

Time to be controversial. Like that'll shock anyone. :D

Patriotic people are the WORST. Like in the UK, if you see national flags outside a home, you know you're in trouble. The only people who fly them are extremists, usually on the right (sorry, but it's true, it's the not "right" that's the issue, it's the "extreme" part). In the US it was a little different, people flew flags and I didn't experience the same feeling. But in the UK, it seems to mean something else entirely.

The US is a great country, great people, great work ethic. But damn, the idea it's the ultimate for all just isn't right. I'd fly a US flag before an England flag.

Around here you will sometimes see the flag of Gloucestershire, or a UK flag which probably does have some connotations, though not as much as the England flag. The only ones I own are those of Wales and the European Union.

Ooooh ?????? Wasn't the execution of Socrates mob rule? His jury acted not on laws or objective evidence, but on emotion, prejudice, and its wounded civic pride. And what about the illegal trial of the generals in 406 BC ?

From the first days of the colonies free settlers from Britain were given assisted passage to Australia. The money was raised from the sale of land. Some settlers were fortunate to be given land at no cost provided they cleared it and grew edible crops.

I fly no flags because most people do not know how it should be done.

The flag should be taken down at sunset and raised again when the sun has risen. A faded or tattered flag needs to be taken down and disposed of respectfully, not thrown into the garbage. The number of tatty flags I see in people's front yards is rather distressing.

About half of the ones I see outside homes, as many would say, are upside down. I haven’t come across many so called patriotic Brits who even know there’s a right and wrong way to fly the flag.
