No, all my books were damaged in a cellar flood last summer. Ended up in a roll-off dumpster.

Any family or friends of your mother? There are a lot of old recipes on line and probably with SF members which might allow you to recreate her bread fairly closely.

When I was a little kid, I always gave mom a handful of dandelions on Mother's Day. They were available and what I could afford at that time. Now I could get her almost anything but she's not here to enjoy it.

The Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church is the home of the International Mother's Day Shrine. Here, Anna Jarvis started the holiday to memorialize her mother. It became a federal holiday in 1914.

Truly miss my very talkative mom. Never shut up. Yak yak yak. The silence is deafening. Brought on my own silence. Miss her every day. Pain in the ass she was. Helpful and generous, kind and funny.
Soon will be her birthday. Her mom's birthday is either May 9, 10, or 11. We settled on May 10. Grandma was my everything. So lucky was I for knowing them.

This morning when I was out for my walk I saw an elderly woman with her walker on the front stoop of her very well kept upscale home.

I didn’t think anything of it until she hailed me from her stoop and asked me to carry a rather large and unwieldy flower arrangement into the house for her.

I assume that the floral arrangement was a Mother’s Day tribute but she didn’t mention it.

As I slowly followed her through the well kept home I was introduced to an enormous old German shepherd named Pumpkin.

When we finally arrived in the kitchen I put the arrangement on the table and made my way past Pumpkin back to the front door and left.

I was happy to help but couldn’t stop thinking about the potential dangers of living alone as we age out.

I also imagined my Mother and Grandmother’s smiling down on me and my little Mother’s Day good deed.
