Rant Thread-Tell 'em off Thread

When somebody hops out at the entrance to my property, takes the chain off the gate, drives on in and expects me to be happy to see them. The chain was on there for a reason and it wasn't because I wanted my muddy yard torn up by your truck or because I wanted unannounced visitors.
I would place a combination padlock on that chain. That is what I did with my front gate. I also placed one of those remote doorbells next to the gate so people can let me know they are there. If I know someone is coming, I will remove the lock in advance.

I very much dislike North Dakota.

Among the hundreds of other issues I have with this state, I've been trying to find fresh salmon and cannot. There are only two different grocery stores in my town, and only one of them has a fresh meat/fresh fish/butcher counter. The one that does has some very sad offerings. I may be forced to order fresh fish online, which would be very expensive.

I want so badly to get out of this state.

I made it to ND in the early 90s. I loved the place. Got there in June from Fla and the temps made me fall in love. The highways are not congested. We drove out of Bismark on the Interstate and it was so empty. Hotels were clean. People were nice. One of the nicest parks I had ever seen. I read the paper and the only crime was like a few DUIs. We were there for POW reunion of old WW2 vets. The main guy had gotten rich from a business out of WIlliston.

We drove up to Winnipeg and I loved that city. Coming from Fla in June where it was like a sauna the weather in Bismark was like a bonus. But that was a long time ago. After that visit and a drive over to Montana I swore that in retirement I would pull an RV to Montana each summer and come home when college football began,........and then life changed. Man makes plans and God laughs......

Sometimes I’d like to give a positive rating for customer service. Yesterday I had a pleasant interaction on the phone. Sure enough, the request to rate started. I gave it a 5/5 and then more questions started. All of them petty and silly. I closed the survey so neither the pleasant lady or her bank got any feedback.

P.S. I’ve probably ranted about this before.

What is it with some realtors?! We tried to go to an open house today; and no, we didn't get there like 5 min. before the closing time; we got there *45* min before they were supposed to close and nobody there. Again. And I guess it was the realtor's rather than the sellers' fault because the house is empty (we peeked in windows). I know we could request a private showing but it was like pulling teeth just to get Huzz to go to this open house (he doesn't want to move), so no way I could get him to do the private showing. Very frustrating; I just know I'm going to die here in this darn place, sigh.

I wish these realtors could get their act together. Now that I think about it, the house this morning, although in a pretty good neighborhood needs some work and the realtor mostly specializes in very expensive, gated-community places, so this little house has probably been tossed onto the back burner and forgotten about.

Anyway, thanks for listing to my rant.

An update: was told by somebody that realtors, even though they advertise it open to prospective buyers, usually only use Wednesday open houses for the realtor to come in, take pictures, and leave right after even if it's long before the stated closing time. You know, these realtors should be careful: Even though some clients and properties may not seem worth their time, they might be missing out on sales and repeat business; there are very wealthy people in this area who don't dress fancy and will purchase little fixer-upper homes for their college-age kids/grandkids. Oh, well, it's the realtors' loss.

The more I think about this, I feel like clicking on the site where it said to if a private showing was wanted but saying I want to know when there'll be another open house (a real one this time), that I don't want a private showing since my Huzz wants nothing to do (and doesn't want me to have anything to do) with a realtor. But with the luck I've had before with asking realtors to stop contacting me since Huzz was unhappy about it and they wouldn't stop 'till I got out-and-out-rude, I'd better not.

He will have to deal with realtors if you plan to buy a house which is listed.

Apple and AI are doing their best to invade my life. We both know we declined their gracious offer to insert events into our calendar. Today they read our mail and helped us by putting in a dinner reservation for tonight. Wrong time. And a few minutes ago they sent me a time sensitive reminder.

You wouldn’t want to have heard the words I used when my husband told me this.

Maybe it’s Google, not Apple. I haven’t gone looking for the link yet. I’m still busy swearing.

I have seen it countless times in movies and TV shows. The tension builds as the character opens the note/letter and reads it. You get a brief screen shot, sometimes a longer one, but you cannot read it. It is either too small or too fast and you just cannot read it. The show proceeds and you feel left behind. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............... Wish they would include it in the closed captions or do a voice over or something!

You are not alone DebraMae - I tried to use well known movies while coaching tutoring. Too fast for students.

In modern movies it's always a text message, they even show the text on screen, you just know the message is of great importance, but I'm never able to read it. Very frustrating!

Apparently the 5 second rule has now been expanded to apply to traffic signals so that now it's OK to just blow through a red light as long as it hasn't been red for more than 5 seconds.
I hate that, too. You should see people in North Dakota. They just keep driving. I've timed some people up to 10 seconds.

I've driven in NYC, Chicago, and DC and never seen people run red lights like they do here. It's irritating.

I don't understand professional services, like a doctors office or service person, that call you and simply ask "is this Joe?". When I had a business I insisted when staff called someone they stated their name and the name of our business as soon as the call was answered, that's the professional way of doing it. It also bothers me to call a business and they answer with "hello", they should answer stating the business name or you feel like you may have called a wrong number.

Basic professional phone edicate in my opinion.
