I read this in a magazine and had to look up the video. Two muggers in Brazil attacked a young woman. One grabbed her cell phone and ran off. The other one stuck around long enough to discover that the victim was a professional MMA fighter. She got him into a chokehold until la policiaca arrived. He's screaming "Daddy! Daddy!". The woman walking up to him is basically saying he's a complete moron.

Of course if somebody tried to hurt me my trusty Callie would disembowel them, but a good headlock would be so much less messy;)

Many years ago in San Diego my Dad ran several bars. One time in one of them a small man was sitting at the bar minding his business when a big motorcycle club member started picking at him. He finally approached the man (Dads bartender was coming out from behind the bar to stop it) and with an open hand slapped the smaller guy. Next thing like lightening that little guy threw the attacked across the floor and when he got up and charged again that little guy practically killed him. The attacker was removed from the bar in very rough shape. Turns out the little guy was a marine who taught martial arts at MCRD and held a black belt. He got a huge round of applause and couldn't drink all the beers people wanted to buy him.

Awesome story, thank you for sharing. One of the things on my bucket list is I always wanted to take that self defense course where they teach you how to disable an attacker. The instructor wears a fully padded suit and grabs and holds you. He doesn't let go until you make the moves that would take him down if he were not padded. They say it's a very intense experience but when you graduate you'd feel so confident.

I'm strong enough to fight off an average sized guy but if I had to run I'd be toast.

My sons have a friend who is rather short in stature (around 5' 5"). Because of his height he took up martial arts and excelled in it.

One evening he was stopped at a stop light when 5 guys tried to highjack his car and rob him. He jumped out of his car and started
leveling the field with kicks and chops on these bad guys. Some people called the cops who arrested him but witnesses said that HE was the original victim
and he was only trying to protect himself. Meanwhile the bloodied 5 guys sat on the curb licking their wounds.

The police took the cuffs off the friend, shook his hand and told him to be on his way. They said they'd take care of the 5 guys.

Those are indeed great courses. Called "Mugger Marvin" back in my day, the suit is a real pain to wear - I know, I used to be the guy in it.

You also have to consider the mental aspect, though - a lot of people freeze up in a crises.

Nice to hear the story with a happy ending. I spent 3 months in County because the cops believed the witnesses that said I was mugging the three other guys.
