Reflections of My Life

Hello katlupe,
I'm glad you got outdoors and took the short walk, and enjoyed the sunshine for a few minutes, today.

It is truly difficult how many and how much, people are still smoking nowadays, and in every possible spot, disregarding the effect on others. 😒👎
Especially so close to your building.
It's your home too, after all. 🤨

That was also disturbing for you, that your new neighbor to have that episode. 🙄
Terrible that there isn't a good system there, for lockouts.

💌
If I get locked out my friend/neighbor across the hall has my extra key. Plus Sonny has a key to the outside doors to get into the building and a key to my apartment. I have my friend's key (she lives downstairs) in case she gets locked out. Most of us have given someone a key to our apartment just in case. Of course, the new lady just moved in and doesn't know anyone yet.

I just finished making 5 batches of the keto replacement meal shakes for ice cream. I know I will need it since it is so hot. It helps me stay cool.

I can't believe I just finished watching a video that was over 2 hours long. The guy did a 14 day solo canoe trip in the Yukon wilderness. It was really good and the area was just beautiful. I am hooked on watching these videos about wilderness areas of Alaska and Canada. I would never do that myself...........I am a fraidy cat for sure! I guess I can travel and do things right from my computer. So I don't have to do them in person. :)

:) I do that too. Virtual Travel. My last trek was to Panama

That reminds me of a lng time ago, I followed advice to bury a spare key well wrapped and in a box or tin and bury it somewhere in the garden.

Years later when I locked myself out..do you think I could find that key ..? Nope.... and I've looked for it since, still no...

...so now that I'm on my own.. and no-one has a spare key except for DD who lives 2 hours away... I have one of these on the wall...

I was recently thinking of asking you how the keto ice cream comes out. Are you just used to the texture or does it really come out creamy. I've been thinking of trying it with some Core Power protein shakes I have.

Some of the apartments here have combination locks instead of keys. I think when they have replace a lock that is what they do now.

Mine comes out very creamy. I use 3 TBSP of melted butter and always make it in a blender. Not sure if that makes a difference. I see on the KC support group on FB that many people have trouble getting it to come out creamy. Mine always has.

When you mention non-Americans enjoying July 4th, it reminded me of our US travel days. No matter the size, the parades were always fun. Loved it.
I follow a YT channel that is a "reaction" channel and he loves anything about America. He lives in the UK and makes me laugh every time I watch him. He is always amazed about things we do here or just our country in general. Made me appreciate it even more.

In my building I only knew one person with dementia and she is now in a nursing home. So maybe it hasn't come up yet. If someone had it here they probably would not be living alone here. This is really independent living.
yep I understand your independent living situation... but it might be worthwhile for other folks to think about who might be considering installing a combination lock sysem in their house...

Lol..I've seen him, I don't think he's a full shilling... how he can't know of these things or have experienced them here.. is not believable..

Him and his mother are planning a visit to the US soon. He is excited. There are other reaction channels as well and some of those people have come here and travel all over for their YT content. Lost in the Pond is not a reaction video but a guy (from the UK) who is married to an American woman. He compares things here to things there. I have watched him for years now and he is pretty funny too.

Last night in the middle of putting up my good night posts I had a thunder and lightning storm. I shut everything off and went to bed. May as well sleep through it. Sonny did call me and he had been without power for part of the day (the hottest part of course). So he took his dogs for a ride in the car and then came back and took a nap in the car. Had to stay in the ac with the dogs (in the car) till the power came back on. But he has been without any internet all day yesterday and this morning too. He is not happy.

This morning I am out of bananas. Just placed a grocery delivery order that should come between 11 and 1. Telling a rabbit that he has to wait for his morning banana is not easy. He keeps showing me the spot on his blanket where I always put it. "Why isn't it there, mom?' "Because you ate them all!" I answer back.

My friend from downstairs came by last night before the storm. She wanted to order the Spin mop we had looked at on Amazon. When she comes here she is here for a long time. I don't mind. First person I talked to besides my son since Thursday. She does not have a computer or use the internet on her phone. So I have made her an "Amazon girl" over time. She knows when she can't find what she wants I can get it for her on Amazon. Everything she has purchased she loves.
