Oh great. That woman may try to say that someone else was using her car and license.

When they prove that she’s lying, I hope they also charge her with misleading the police.

Thinking about this, if I’m ever a witness I’ll video the events, even if it’s afterwards.

I hope she is located & held responsible for her actions. Too many people from other countries are being permitted a license who shouldn't have one in the first place ... and yes, some will drive without the license anyway. With all the non-drivers (native or not) on the roadway, being on the defensive isn't enough sometimes.

I don't know how you handle accidents in the UK so that you are properly represented, but here I won't hesitate to have my lawyer represent me in an accident. It was almost the next day after a kid had hit & totaled out my vehicle, his insurance called wanting to make an appointment to settle with me. I was still scrambled from getting knocked out, but I had enough wits about me to only tell them to call my attorney & not to call me back.

I can relate to what you are going through & you're in my prayers. I glad you had witnesses who stopped & gave their information for contact. I was lucky to have had a road maintenance crew to witness mine & gave statements to the police. Their statements showed the kid was lying with his story. When the officer followed up with me, he came to my house in person.

When my department handled accident follow-ups, they were in person as long as the they were close to our jurisdiction. If a person was from out of town, they'd get a phone call. I haven't heard of a follow-up being done by mail.

....

...even tho' I will have to post less than normal...I'm back as best as I can be... for now.... 🌷

I want to thank you all for your wonderful support , messages, flowers...dogs ( thanks Pinks:love: )..and especially those who posted regular almost daily messages encouraging my recovery... I can't thank you enough...it's kept me going when I was in danger of sinking into a depression, something i've never allowed into my life despite all the adversities... but coming only 6 weeks after a horrendous 4 years of court fighting a divorce petition... at 70 I think my body just was asking me how much it was expected to take without breaking down... and taking a rest from the world..so thank you all.. and more especially thankyou to @Sunny and @StarSong for checking on me regularly by email.. and worrying about me when I was too poorly to reply...

I saw the Plastic surgeon today... the good news is that they've removed the cast from my top knuckles to my fingertips, which means I can at last use the fingers of my right hand...you have no idea what a freedom that is... the hand however is still out of action.. i could post you a gory photo from today, but I'm sure you don't want to see it.. anyway.. it's still in a bad way.. and puffed up like a pigs bladder... and I have to keep it in a sling across my body up to my opposite shoulder to try and get the swelling to go down..

The ribs are stil sore, hard to sleep or get in any position that's not painful, and my shoulders to my thighs on the right side are still black and blue, but fading each day with the help of topical and internal Arnica Gel...... but... I'm going on upwards and onwards.. .. and the fact that I can write this back on the forum now.. is a HUGE step...

DD rang soon after I'd got home from the hospital and she said quote'' mum, you sound so much more like your old self, instead of an old lady that you've sounded like since the accident''.. lol.. so I'll take that as a sign I'm on my way back to normality whatever that might be..

Clearly the hand still hurts, so I'lll be able to post but it'll be less than my usual.. (sigh of relief from some at the back at the room.)..:ROFLMAO: because I have to have the hand in the sling most of the time to get the swelling down... ..

However.. for all intents and purposes... Holly is back... Yeaaaah!!!🌺
Really great to hear from you Holly, and especially with (semi) good news--that you're feeling better. Had I known so much communication was happening on this thread, I would've been here more often; I just assumed it was people expressing good thoughts towards you.

I feel terrible about what you have gone thru and are still going thru. You've been in my thoughts all this time and will continue at least until you're fully recovered. Rest as much as possible.

It's great that you are back Holly! Reader's Digest used to say that Laughter is the Best Medicine. Sometimes laughter will make you feel a lot better. How about watching some old reruns of Last of the Summer Wine, The Vicar of Dibley, or maybe, Keeping Up Appearances, if that doesn't make you laugh, nothing will. :ROFLMAO:
Caveat emptor: Laughter may hurt your ribs @hollydolly. My mother fell down and cracked a rib when we were on vacation in Hawaii and was pretty miserable the whole time.

Some years ago I was sideswiped by an 18 wheeler, damaging the whole side of my car. The truck driver denied resposibility, and he had a passenger to support him, so I assumed I would be found at fault.

I just put the car in the shop and had it repaired under my own insurance. My insurance obtained a copy of the police report, fixed my car, then subrogated the claim against his insurance and recovered the loss. My only point is that insurance companies (at least where I live) conduct their own investigation(s), regardless of what either driver said.

the ironical thing is, as you all know here , I would have in normal circumstances been the one to have taken photos of everything..... of course I was barely alive so in no condition to even think about taking photos... however..a weird thing is.. that £150 of groceries were completely destroyed in the boot of the car despite being safely enclosed inside an insuated trolley on wheels....and the tool that I had on my car key chain which was supposed to be used to smash a window if ever it was needed in an accident.. tore off the actual chain in the impact while the key was in the ignition.. and landed at the back of the car...

yet my handbag which was in the footwell of the passenger side.. in front... (and the front of the car suffered the most damage)...and would have hit the floor and roof of the car 6 times in total as the car overturned on it's roof 3 times.. had nothing broken inside.. not my phone.. or anything... amazing...

this bag... co-incidentally, I took this picture exactly one week before the accident...

I have to wonder if that hijab, with its ridiculous little slit for her to peer through, and she apparently had vision disabilities because she wore glasses which could have easily have been pushed aside or vertically by the hijab ... well, I can't seem to get out of this sentence, but you can see where I'm going. Those garments may be a serious safety hazard when driving. I wonder if a large number of car crashes have been caused by them?

well I have to admit I thought exactly the same, Sunny....

@DH...Don't you have to exchange license information?
No..only insurance details... the police came into the ambulance, while I was lying on the trauma board being given gas and air,, and the firefighter cut off my jewellery... and asked for my licence, A paramedic got it out of my bag for him to take the details.. but if I hadn't have had it on me, it wouldn't have been a problem.. the important thing is the Insurance details..

I was horrified by looking at your car holly Dolly. It really is a miracle that you survived that accident. I also wondered about her apparel getting in the way of her seeing adequately.
TT, you know what actually brings me out in a cold sweat is the thought that I might have had a passenger, and even tho' by some miracle I survived, they might have beeen killed..

Woulda shoulda coulda...I know that... but I have never been a driver in a car crash in my life.. the only accident has been this one, caused by someone else.... and it was catastrophic in many ways.. and it really has put the fear into me of what could have happened if I'd been carrying passengers

Glad yor're back at it and on the mend! From the looks of the most severe damage area, you're lucky that cars in England have the drivers controls on the right side of the car rather than North American cars which are on the left! That's were the damage appears to be the most severe.

And yes, watch out for those insurance people. If they're anything like they are in Canada, they'll be looking for any opportunity to screw you around on a fiar settlement for your car. Do your homework on what the value of your wrecked car is; same model, year & similar milage etc. By doing some homework & knowing the facts, you'll be able to call out your insurance company when they try & low ball you on the value (and they will, wait and see).

Happened to me when my car was stolen many years ago and I had to fight them for awhile but they couldn't ignore all the facts I had in my playbook & I got a fair settlement in the end.

However if you look at the car properly you will see that the windscreen completely collapsed including the frame in on me on the drivers' side and filled my mouth with glass, and tore open my right hand... ... and the drivers side window completely smashed in.. as well..

The car overturned onto it's roof from front to back.. rather than the side somersaulting that we see often in accidents...

I was completely unaware of it, it was the witnesses who told me...

All I knew was I got hit hard..suddenly.. and everything started spinning like I was in a thick thunderstorm, and turning and turning like inside a washing machine.. that was of course the windows smashing, and the car turning over.. and it landed back on it's tyres...

Someone said I must have had the very best seatbelts ever...

We see Moslem Mothers regularly shopping for groceries, with 2 or 3 children mostly daughters, they usually wear a tight white Hair covering this summer. It was 99 F here this afternoon, most likely 119 on the black top parking lots sun. Maybe all those little girls are with the babysitters?

I would guess the Lady is a poor driver, very little actual driving time & from a Moslem Country where they don't drive much.
Knowing how long she has been driving, driving record and time in England would be a must to me.
