Forum member seriously injured

Maybe an Ice bag for an hour or so can help that hand to Holly? ... :coffee: ...
Most likely just above the wrist area to cool the blood some. Maybe sitting
at a table with the wrist lying on that bag holding the hand sort of away but
up, even with a small pillow to raise it more. You can puter with comfort ...
Your other hand can run the mouse too.
Very good idea, thanks PT... (y)

That Ice bag used wisely can cool down those smoking hot angry nerves too.
Just don't stiffen up with too much cold applique. The system throws tons of heat/
swelling at an infection. That can be a great deal of the cause of incredible pain.

In a couple of weeks, you can go to a heating pad with the same type of treatment most likely.
Easy does it until it feels so good you want it there lots.

I used to buy those heating pads I energized by smacking. I played lots of golf back then.
I like Dr Scholl's lidocaine now.

Tens is a great treatment for healing up then too. You can order them from Amazon. They stick on with a battery attached.
$30 vs ? trips places $$$

At that point you may wish to wear comfortable gloves as those injures finish healing over the coming months. Redness / scars tend to fade.
Develop a patience, with the plan, get your life back to a normalcy.

Bad news has arrived from London: our own Hollydolly has been in an automobile accident and received multiple injuries. (Another car smashed into hers, causing her car to roll over. It's a wonder she survived!) She was in the hospital for a couple of days and is home now, recovering but feeling lousy. She said it would be OK to tell you all, so you don't think she has just suddenly vanished.

I hope we see her back here and feeling much better very soon.
I am glad to hear she's at home recovering!

Hello everyone , thankyou for all the uplifting wonderful caring messages you've given to me over the last 9 days since my accident... it has kept me so much more in a positive frame of mind, and always knew i had excellent taste in friends..

it's very difficult for me to type here on the forum. the right hand is out of action, plastic surgeons worke to save it on the night following the accident...nd my left arm and hand are severely bruised. my body all down the right side is every colour except skin colour, i have 27 if i recall properly... stitches in my hand....
I have 3 fractured ribs on the right.....so i'm having to type this with just one finger on my left hand... to say thank you everyone, you're all my forever friends....but most of all i couln't not aattempt to write to Mark and Lisa, and lilttle pooch, how much i know the shock you must be feeling today, even if you have no physical injuries..((HUGS)).. I'm sorry for the loss of your vehicle ..i hoe it's all easily remedied by the other person's insurance...

As for me.the district nurse came yesterday to redress my hand, and will return again on Monday.. on thursday i have an appt with the plastic surgeons again at the hospital.
things are difficult , i can't cook.. it's painful to sleep walk sit or stand due to the ribs.. can't tidy up, or wash dishes.. using paper plates instead..but with help of the anti-biotics, painkillers and muscle relaxants things are improving, albeit too slowly for me.

Sunny and Starsong, have been my personal angels checking on me on an almost daily basis and relaying my speech to text mails back to you all..on the forum 💞

My insurance company are dealing with everything, and i do have legal cover and personal injury cover as well, but i'm told these things take a long time to sort out. The accident was 100% the other drivers fault and she had no injuries. I'm entitled to a replacement car from my insurers, but no use having it while i'm unable to drive it...

IT has taken m 35 mins to write this using my left hand and it's hurting now, but i just wanted you all to know i read everything you write and can't appreciate you more.... and some of your messages make me laugh too even if it is sore....i still love to read them....

but i also had to come and wish Mark & Lisa...better...and pray they have no injuries.

Love to you all

🌷🌺💞🧡
I am so sorry Hollie, what a terrible thing. I wish you a good recovery . Sorry for all your pain. Xx

Just got back from running around doing errands, and was delighted to see the happy news, Holly! Even your handwriting looks happy! 😬

The advice you're getting sounds good to me. I managed to get my foot injured about two years ago; I don't know what I did, but all of a sudden I had bad tendonitis, the doctors said probably nerve damage, and my arch collapsed. My foot swelled up and was a million different colors. Just by itself, from ordinary walking! For about a year I could barely walk at all, and just sort of lurched around desperately grabbing onto pieces of furniture. Amazingly, I didn't fall. I tried a cane, but that seemed to make it worse. Never got the hang of it.

It finally got better, but took its time. The orthotics in my shoes probably helped a lot, plus some very good physical therapy. I'm pretty much back to normal again, but still can't go down stairs without holding onto the rail. (Probably my brain is doing that, more than my foot, which feels fine now. I've trained myself to be very cautious about walking.)

The reason I'm telling you all this is that the main medical advice I got from doctors, nurses, and the physical therapists always involved putting ice on the foot for about 20 minutes. One doctor advised following the ice with an application of warmth, such as a heating pad. I didn't use actual ice, but I have several of those cold packs to keep in the freezer (meant for food), which I put in a plastic bag and used for the foot. (Kept it away from the food section of the freezer, of course, and changed the plastic bag each time.) It did seem to help.

Anyway, I'm so glad to see you back! This place has not been the same without you.
