Bed Bugs at Hotel !

Spray infested areas with 90% alcohol and if possible wrap the areas. That will kill them. If you don't have a sprayer...buy one; the alcohol doesn't come in spray bottles.

A dear friend of mine was invited to a wedding in La Pas, Bolivia. She said she always takes one of those sheets that looks like alfoil and puts it on top of the sheets of the bed in case of bed-bugs. She's never had any in all of her travels.

I had them before, bought a bag of Diatomaceous Earth from home depot. Treated my home myself and didn't need to throw anything out. Saved tons of money and never had that problem again. I still keep it around just in case.

Diatomaceous earth is inexpensive magic for eliminating cockroaches and other crawling insects. We always have a sack of it for cleaning the pool filter twice a year.

Good to know your success with it on bedbugs, though I hope to never personally verify it.
 
I do remember catching a case of crabs in a hotel bed in Marrakesh back in 1963. A pharmacist in Spanish Ceuta gave me a little bottle of clear liquid and told me to apply it around my pubic area. The stuff stung and burned like the devil, and, not surprisingly, killed every one of the little buggers.

A cheating girlfriend gave me crabs. Discovered them at work on Friday the 13th ! Family Doctor for years called them Mechanized Dandruff. Have me a bottle of blue stuff & told me to shave everything. Ye God's did it burn.

Anytime I travel before I even open my suitcase I strip the beds and pillow cases to inspect for bugs. I have never found any bugs but did once find a bed sheet with a huge brown stain on it, refused to stay there and had to fight for my money to be refunded.

Hotel renovated my room completely including paint. Stayed in another room a few days. New Mattress , Sheets etc. All Gone ! Owner & Staff very good to me here !
 
Came back late last night after a trip to visit family on the east coast. First thing I did was check the bed for bedbugs. None.

Interestingly, given the timing of this thread, our hotel room had no typical drawers in the room or bathroom. There was a wardrobe closet with pole and hangers. Bathroom had long double tiered counters plus a single cubby.

Bedroom nightstands were flat surfaces without shelves or drawers, ditto the desk. The dresser beneath the TV opened up to a mini fridge on one side and three sliding metal baskets with on the other, but no traditional drawers.
The bed was on a large metal box that went went down to the floor, so nothing could wind up underneath.

I thought it was a great idea. Lurking bedbugs and other potential hitchhikers would have been easy to spot and it was easy to be sure nothing was left behind when we were packing up to leave.

Its screens taken off, doors wide open, certains live with everything open. Damp moisture and in they come.
Not unkind, its how they get there. They are on them when they walk in from wherever & why they needed a bath.
 
Mexican Chicken Bed Bugs are another example and common in southern US states.

Move out is the easiest way to fix it and do your laundry at a laundry matt. on your way.

Well that's a dead giveaway of moisture foundation cracks and former bug problems.
 
I've stayed at many hotels and have never encountered a bedbug. I wouldn't even know what they look like. I've have noise problems in hotels, but never bugs, thank God.
