Sorry that happened to you! One of the first rules of travel is never leave your suitcase on the bed! In fact, if the bathroom is large enough, it's recommended to leave luggage in there. That may not be practical for many though. It's important to follow the tips in the video below even when staying at hotels we think we can trust not to have the problem.
If you happen to bring them home, here's a tip I got from two young men (one with small boys) who encountered the problem in their homes. Spray infested areas with 90% alcohol and if possible wrap the areas. That will kill them. If you don't have a sprayer...buy one; the alcohol doesn't come in spray bottles.
