Anything Scottish, just for fun!

My darling old Grandad hadn't been back to his beloved Scotland for almost 30 years, so he decided to visit the old country with my grandmother. He wanted to see the Edinburgh Tattoo. When the massed bands came marching out, he said he burst into tears because it
bought back old memories of himself with his old regiment. When they played "Will ye no come back again?", he said that was it for him, because he knew he would never see the old place ever again. God Bless you Grandad.
Facebook has been feeding me snippets of the massed pipe bands of Scotland. I cannot get enough of them.

I heard that many Scots ended up trapped on voice control elevators until someone without a thick accent boarded it and could be understood. Is that still happening?
There is an example on YouTube, check it out.

I had trouble once, but luckily I can mimic some
accents, so I got moving, at my third attempt.

Mike.

I enjoyed this video....with the Ocean in the background, etc. I would enjoy the song itself more, if someone add another verse with a happy ending!
I remember that in our teens, after we'd had a few, we used to mercilessly massacre that song with our drunken version of 'Nae buddy's wain'.

A slang term I haven't heard in ages is 'Judas', which meant either food or drink bought as a take-away. This comes from the joke about the last supper where Peter asks Jesus who owned the bag containing bottles of beer. Jesus replies, Oh that's Judas' carry out.
