Will you get a flu shot this year or next?

Kaiser Permanente influenza shots here in Northern Calfiornia become available today. So will be getting one during the next month. KP is still evaluating the current COVID vaccine that seems to be more active recently.
 

Yes, both of us, my husband and I will get the flu shot and covid when available. We haven't had any reaction to the vaccinations and no illness after getting them.
 

I cannot … I got my only Flu Shot ever, back in 2010 when they were promoting that stronger dose for seniors ... I was sick for weeks after that shot.
That was the last time I was laid up in bed with an illness.

I can’t remember the last time I even had a cold …and I spend time around people daily…usually outside..

well there seem a good argument for getting the vaccines.

Right now there’s three states where you cannot get the updated Covid shot because without CDC approval no one will give it. A government agency is supposed to meet on the 18th and if they give approval then things might change, but there’s three states where things are really up in the air. Those three states are Nevada, New Mexico and I can’t remember the other one.

I think I have only had flu twice in my life. The first time I was a child and later as an adult. That was long before influenza vaccines were available. The difference as I recall is that a head cold is just that. It is in the head, pneumonia affects the lungs, as does bronchitis and asthma but influenza seems to affect the whole body. Both times I felt really sick and while you could alleviate the symptoms you just had to wait it out, preferably in a warm bed.

My father had vaccines and got the flu. So, no, really.

I've known plenty of people with and without vaccines that have gotten the flu. I'm sure many people here have seen the same. I'm sure there are a few who were vaccinated and did not get the flu. Just like there are a few who did not get vaccinated and did not get the flu.

The internet is full of junk about the effectiveness of the vaccine. There are also some studies claiming a flu vaccination actually causes more likelyhood of getting the flu.

I don't need the CDC, medical community, internet or the government to present multiple conflicting results to guide me on the highly debated topic of vaccine effectiveness. I use firsthand knowledge and common sense to reach my own conclusions.

You can certainly form your own conclusion based off whatever you want. But I can take offense when someone insists that their conclusions prove my decisions are wrong.

Maybe you didn't mean it that way? But that's what it sounded like :unsure:

no, the vaccine is not a live vaccine and there are not any reputable studies proving that at all

I base my conclusions on recomended medical advice - your anecdote however was a very good one in favour of flu vaccine. I meant exactly what I said.
 
I work in a nursing home. When it is offered to me, I always say yes, and get one. I don't want to wear a mask. We're constantly in contact with the elderly, so we have to protect them.

Check first that it is OK, SeaBreeze, a year or so ago people
were getting sick when they had them together, I refused
to have them together, then I found out that it was women,
who were affected, not men, I don't know why.

Maybe it was only here and maybe it has been fixed, I hope
that it has, but you need to find out.
