What's the news in your town,

Most of what's in my newspaper is burglary in a bar...drug arrests...the jail roster...flu shot clinic drive thru at the hospital. Nothing important.

I wish to move to a small town where the daily paper's headline is that the local high school football team won their game against their rival on the other side of the state, and on page two is who won the baking contest.
you can move here..that's the type of headlines we have here.... Bike stolen from outside the supermarket...

I just looked at the headlines for today which were...

The road closures and resurfacing works set to disrupt motorists this week

Residents are advised to avoid taking long diversions this week

...and

Horse put to sleep with non-survivable injuries after being struck by vehicle on xxxxx road

I did the neighborhood newsletter for years and tried to feature the kids achievements. We had a recipe exchange and yard of the month and encouraged participation in local events. Now the online site seems all about stray dogs an break-ins.

@Lawrence00, that sounds like our local paper that comes out twice a week. It covers the local news for the western half of my county & the rural county west of us.

It covers everything we need to know in our area as far as local government happenings along, sports results from all of the school districts, upcoming festivals & a short article of how it went, local business ads, a local writer that does a article about local wildlife/plants/seasonal weather & another writer that does farming articles. I enjoy it every time I read it.

Last paper had in it that volunteers are needed for the Thanksgiving Dinner & how the local schools did in the State Report Card that came out.

Syracuse, N.Y. — A ā€œsuspiciousā€ box that prompted the evacuation of Syracuse City Hall Monday was a noise monitoring device related to the Interstate 81 project, officials said.

The discovery of the box in a tree caused Syracuse police to block off streets around City Hall. They brought in a small drone and a robot to try to figure out if the box was dangerous.
