What have you bought recently?

It's just the right coat with a wide lapel suit, pin striped and with the wide trouser hems turned up. The hat and shoes complete that old fashioned look that Holly said, of her father.

No HC..lol.. he wasn't dressed that old fashioned.. in 40's style.. ... but he was not fashinable.. he wore just flannels and polo short or shirt and tie... when we in the late 60's and 70's wanted him to wear bell bottoms, and matching floral shirt & tie ...or ben sherman shirt... and Jeans...lol...

I don't think he ever owned a pair of jeans right to his dying day... ..lol..I'm laughng already because I know your opinion on jeans... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Flannels are great although I don't have any. There's a talented seamstress who can make impeccable trousers, in a timeless style, that I know, she is truly a gifted artisan, my bulging wardrobe is testimony to that.
Does my dislike of denim label me a snob? Denim has gained prominence as durable utilitarian clothing, much loved by those who prefer a leather jacket rather than a more formal appearance. Despite it's popularity, it still looks like traditional workwear and overalls.

Big sigh... as seems to be my pattern, I've spent very little this past week on non-necessities, then got hit with an $1100 regular maintenance plus repair bill for our business pickup truck. Granted, the radiator & shocks were still original equipment and the truck is 20 years old, but $1100 is $1100.

I don't know how people manage these big surprise bills if they're living on Social Security alone and have meager retirement savings.

In under a month we've shelled out $3700 in unexpected repair expenses.

Glad to still be working...

The only thing worse than trying on a bathing suit is trying on jeans. For the first time wandering through a thrift store, I decided to look at jeans. I did it based it by looking at the length of the leg. There are no fitting rooms there. Found two pairs which looked like they would fit and now that they’re washed up, they do. If they don’t work out, at least I only invested $10 and ten minutes.

I did waste $4 on a cheese grater. It’s a really good brand but doesn’t do what I want. It’s too fine a grate. Washed it up and will donate it back.

Who buys an ice shaver? Pampered Chef makes good products and has the prices to match. Still, who uses an ice shaver. Obviously not the folks who donated it. Neither do I.

They say money talks, but in my house, mine just waves goodbye as she goes out the door with the shopping bags.
First up, her nails, that means a finger nail manicure, then it's off to the supermarket, even though we did the provision shop a few days ago. After that it's a birthday card and chocolates for a dear friend, then, hopefully, a return home.

I presume she's spening her own money...so that's ok then... (y)

I forgot ..I bought a Tangle teezer paddle hair brush...

For many years I've had these types of tangle teezer bushes..
images
they're not cheap but they're brilliant at removing the tangles in my fine hair without breaking it... but since the accident, and the semi- paralysis in my dominant hand.. I've really struggled trying to brush my hair with my left hand using these small brushes with no handle... so yesterday I ordered a Paddle brush tangle teezer...and it arrived today.....ohhh bliss, finally after 4 months I was able to brush my hair using my dominant hand ...

I also meant to say that I thought £15 was a lot to pay for a hairbrush but when I was looking online yesterday I was seeing some at £65.00 and more...:eek:

A new pair of Merrell winter walking shoes.

The shoes themselves are not noteworthy but the price startled me when I realized that they cost more than the monthly mortgage payment on my first little house back in the early 80s.

and the beat goes on…😉🤭😂
I'm clomping around in a pair of Merrill slip-ons. They are warm, comfortable, water resistant, and have thick soles that keep you out of the slush. Plus they last forever. The fact that they are ugly is a bonus as no one would ever want to steal them.

I agree, they're probably ugliest shoes in the world followed only by Crocs... neither of which i'd be seen in my coffin wearing.... but each to their own... :ROFLMAO:

I have two pairs of Merrill slip-ons, one is at least 15 years old the other about 10 years old. Very comfy still. I generally wear them with long pants over winter because, as you said, they're not the most attractive shoes when worn with shorts or a skirt.

Bought my husband a Yeti coffee mug. We both drink our coffee from SS travel mugs. The lid on his Thermos brand one started to leak after umpteen years and we couldn’t find a similar model. Yeti sure are pricey.

Stopped in a thrift store and picked up a vase to use for a friend who is in the hospital. I hate paying the ridiculous prices when the vase is purchased with the flowers.

You really wouldn’t like my Muck brand shoes either lol lol. I wear them outside for everything I do. They’re not cheap, but they are a little cheaper than the Merrill brand shoes.

I do have enough decency to not wear them to town🤠

How dare y’all call Merrells ugly🤣
I splurged and bought these Merrell hiking boots way back in 2015 for $109.95 (so says Amazon)…& just finally tossed them this very year. They still looked like new because they were so stinkin’ uncomfortable that i only ever wore them a handful of times. So all these years i just occasionally glanced at them & hoped a magical insert would come along to make them feel as comfy as they looked. Didn’t happen so fiiinally brought myself to bid them adios. But ugly? I think not!😂🤣😂
