Amazon.....this is bizarre!

Ameriscot

SF VIP
We have used Amazon US and UK for many years and the service has always been outstanding.

  • We order an inflatable kayak.
  • Email says it will be delivered Friday. It isn't. Fine. No big deal.
  • Email says the delivery people couldn't gain access to our house. Not possible.
  • Email says the package was delivered and signed for. Not true.
  • Husband phones Amazon (in India) and it sounds like it is all sorted out and will be delivered on Saturday.
  • Email says someone will come and pick up the package from us and they will redeliver it.
  • Uh huh.
  • This morning: guy comes in truck to pick up our kayak, which isn't here. And why would they pick it up anyway.
  • Asked hubby to phone Amazon back but he's waiting to see if it's actually delivered today.

WTF?!?! :crying:

Doesn't it though? We can't figure it all out. Customer service on drugs? Rebelling because they are treated so crappily by Amazon?

Yes, bizarre Ameriscot. Good Luck! :)

From my experience lately, it seems like Amazon is taking on more than they can handle. .. as in getting too big for their britches or something.
I can only talk to the US service I get.

But I have found that their 'two day Prime' has turned into three or four day in the past month or so.
I really don't care, as I'm dropping Prime next month anyway. But that's the service I'm seeing more and more.

Then they've changed their simple billing practices they had for a long time. I get emails now that bill each item individually if you order two or more things. Seems like a lot more work on their part to try and confuse you...??
(Because many times the email prices don't match the original order prices on their website.)

WOW! Talk about entering the twilight zone. I sure hope they work this out for you soon, Annie. More often than not it's a problem on the delivery service end, not amazon, at least that's usually been the issue when I've had such problems.

95% of the time we get things very quickly, sometimes in one day. And we are in an area that requires a ferry or a very long road trip. We got Prime in order for me to watch Outlander as it's the only way to get it in the UK. But we do like the free shipping which we've found has been even faster. Smaller packages from Amazon we get by Royal Mail which we find reliable.

Our kindles are on my US account. And I sometimes use it for sending gifts to family in US.

This size package always comes from a company called Oban Express and we're usually happy with them. I can't imagine that the driver said he couldn't get access to our house! Or that they'd deliver it to the wrong house. You can't mix up addresses here - there are no numbers - only Gaelic house names.

Well, we are both good at getting satisfaction from companies, so we will get our kayak!

Everything always depends on individuals. Sounds to me, like you have one person in the chain who screwed up originally, and once it became a problem, it just kept compounding itself. Worst case scenario, the same individual is somewhere in the chain where it hits them every time. Good luck! How many Customer Service Reps speak Gaelic?

It certainly does have echoes of Monty Python in it! Maybe it's a terrible kayak and they're trying to tell you something?

I just can't figure out what the communication screw up was that made them try to pick up a kayak (that was never delivered).

Nobody needs to speak Gaelic to read house names. GPS will pick up our house by the name.

Naw, we checked it out in a store and also looked up reviews from different sources. :D

Don't think it was a misunderstanding with the rep in India.

Oh. Its an inflatable. In that case, may you never spring a leak and go shooting around like a party balloon.:bestwish:
It looks very nice Ameriscot. I'm sure you two will enjoy it.

Thanks. Has to be. We're taking it to Thailand with us as for some reason it's hard to find kayaks to rent on the island we go to. The kayak which is sturdy, paddles, pump will fit in a suitcase and not go over the weight limit.

Thailand? You are adventurous! I've been there a number of times, but only via my TV and computer. I envy you, your spirit and expect a full report when you get back.

We spent two months there last winter after discovering it during a family wedding the previous winter. Like it so much we'll be there again for 3 months this winter. We've got free wifi where we stay, and internet on my phone, so I'll still be in touch.
