All Things Relating to Christmas

A neighbor helped me set-up our Christmas tree and Michelle and I got it all decorated Saturday night. We got started on it after dinner, and we took our time deciding on one of 3 themes; traditional ball ornaments with a star-topper, miniature toys with an old-fashioned St Nick topper, or snowflakes and snowballs with an Angel topper, and whether to go with white lights or colored ones.

We went with the snowflakes, the Angel, and white lights. We spent nearly 3 hours decorating this thing - making sure we got the lights all evenly distributed, and got all the smaller snowflakes on the upper branches, and larger and larger ones going down to the bottom branches, putting the long-a$$ string of white "pearls" on it, taking it off, putting it back on, then deciding to do without it - but it looked great when we finished! Really pretty.

Michelle took pictures and sent them to family and friends, and we sat and admired our beautiful tree for about another hour before going to bed, exhausted but happy.

Just after 6 yesterday morning, when Meesh took her morning coffee into the family room so she could admire the tree, I heard her yell "NOOO!!!"

We have cats.


So, yeah, snowflakes of various sizes all over the floor, a string of lights laying across the room, and flattened branches where one of them decided to take naps. I won't name names, but you know who you are...Charlie! šŸ˜ 

My young hired helper, Fidel, came over yesterday and helped me UN-decorate the rest of the dang tree, and I was going to have him help me take it apart and just not do a tree this year, but who knows when it's your last Christmas, right? And Michelle really loved it, so I decided to try putting a fence around it.

I ordered a "pet playpen" and it's supposed to be here today...a cost-point I didn't need...and Fidel helped me move furniture near enough to the tree to be a decent jumping-off point for ninja-cats.

So, me and Michelle will give it another go. At least we're already decided on a theme and know who's gonna be doing what and where everything will go. We could crush it within an hour, hour-and-a-half tops.
