I didn't see a loaf of major brand whole-grain bread for less than $5. A package of 8 hot dogs was $7.99.
Nosy Kate needs to know what brand of doggies you're paying 8 bucks for. I just looked, and even the premium brands are just $6.69 at my store.I didn't see a loaf of major brand whole-grain bread for less than $5. A package of 8 hot dogs was $7.99.
That’s pretty steep, the local Wegman’s has them for $5.49.Ball Park smoked turkey. I probably got a small discount by using my courtesy card. Here's a screen shot of them on the store's web page:

Here hotdogs are really cheap...one of the cheapest thing you can buy but they're only about 3 or 4 inches long.. the much bigger ones in a jar are £2.85... still very cheap

5 dollar for a bread? Wow. It's 2 euro here if it's from a bakery and otherwise 1 euro. Lately I baked one myself for 90 cent, a kilo of flour. Maybe that's an idea? Or is flour also crazy expensive?I didn't see a loaf of major brand whole-grain bread for less than $5. A package of 8 hot dogs was $7.99.
bread is expensive here too now compared to even just a year ago... but nowhere nearly as expensive as $5... a loaf...5 dollar for a bread? Wow. It’s similar here in Central New York, a 22 ounce loaf of Wegman’s white bread is a $1.39, Wegman’s 20 ounce whole wheat is $2.49.I pay $3.49 for a loaf of low carb, low calorie bread. I could get a loaf for $1.28 but I choose the "better for me" kind.
I buy hot dogs for $3.97, but for the frugal person or those required to count pennies, the Bar S brand at WalMart is $1.00 for an 8-pack.
May I ask.... why are you paying such high prices... is it because you're shopping at the closest supermarket or why ?I like Arnold's bread. they make a variety of multi-grain breads, but the store price is $5.29 a loaf.

what's puzzling me tho' deb, is that no-one else seems to be paying those high prices..It isn't much different at other markets.
I think maybe you need to shop around a little more....Well, then, who can answer?
Honestly, I am shocked and surprised when the cashier rings up a total that's less than $100. This morning's trip to the grocery store was $184.36, but that did include a pound of ground chicken, a package of boneless chicken thighs, a bottle of wine and a couple bottles of whiskey, for the holidays.Groceries today totaled almost $100!
I shop at Wegman's and use Arnold's breads. They are costly but worth it. AS for the hot dogs I will get eithr Nathans or Hebrew National. Nathans is not kosher but are approved for eating...no pork. H N are Kosher but are drier than Nathans.Well, then, who can answer?
