Only You - Freddie Mercury - Can't find the year . . . AI says Freddie Mercury didn't record this song.
I'll let the listener decide.

No one can beat The Platters on that song, but their version had already been posted to the forum a number of times, so I wanted something different. The Platters - Only You, And You Alone (1955)
I had to reset my hearing after listening to what sounded like a parody of a great song.
Your post left me wanting to hear the Platters. I did my own quick search for a cover but nothing of note came up.No one can beat The Platters on that song, but their version had already been posted to the forum a number of times, so I wanted something different.
The only major performer I could find was Mercury. Although it sounds like Freddie Mercury, something seems off, and it's not his usual quality, so I'm not 100% convinced it's really him.
The Platters also did a great recording of The Great Pretender, but so did Mercury.
On my browser, just searching "Only You" in videos didn't produce all those. Listening to Reba McEntire's version as I write this - - - nice. Thanks for the info.Your post left me wanting to hear the Platters. I did my own quick search for a cover but nothing of note came up.
EDIT:
From Wikipedia...
"Other well-known versions have been recorded by Louis Armstrong, The Hilltoppers, Franck Pourcel and Ringo Starr. American country music versions were released by Travis Tritt, Reba McEntire, Bobby Hatfield and The Statler Brothers. In the UK, the most widely heard versions are those by The Platters, Ringo Starr, the band Child and the actor John Alford. In Norway, a version by Stein Ingebrigtsen charted in the Norwegian language. American singer Brenda Lee scored a hit in Belgium with her version."
I remember the Ringo version.
I just listened to Reba's cover. I don't think I've ever disliked her singing anything. Its a nice cover. On my browser, just searching "Only You" in videos didn't produce all those. Listening to Reba McEntire's version as I write this - - - nice. Thanks for the info.
I saw the Platters in concert at an oldies show back in the late 70's. Tony Williams (the original lead singer) was the only remaining member. He was performing with his wife, son, and one or two others. Paul Robi also a original member, had his own group touring, Paul Robi's Platters. Later I think bass singer Herb Reed, had his own version of the Platters. It was rather confusing at times. The other 2 original members were Zola Taylor and Dave LynchOn my browser, just searching "Only You" in videos didn't produce all those.
