No one can beat The Platters on that song, but their version had already been posted to the forum a number of times, so I wanted something different.

The only major performer I could find was Mercury. Although it sounds like Freddie Mercury, something seems off, and it's not his usual quality, so I'm not 100% convinced it's really him.

The Platters also did a great recording of The Great Pretender, but so did Mercury.

Your post left me wanting to hear the Platters. I did my own quick search for a cover but nothing of note came up.

On my browser, just searching "Only You" in videos didn't produce all those. Listening to Reba McEntire's version as I write this - - - nice. Thanks for the info.

I saw the Platters in concert at an oldies show back in the late 70's. Tony Williams (the original lead singer) was the only remaining member. He was performing with his wife, son, and one or two others. Paul Robi also a original member, had his own group touring, Paul Robi's Platters. Later I think bass singer Herb Reed, had his own version of the Platters. It was rather confusing at times. The other 2 original members were Zola Taylor and Dave Lynch
