Foot/Heel Pain Issues

I have been having problems with my feet for almost a year now. Some days are better than others. My primary care doctor says it is arthritis. He said I should take 3000mg of Tylenol a day. That was no help and I quit as that is a large dose. His assistant said it is bursitis and the foot specialists told me is is tendonitis. The foot specialist recommended 6 weeks of physical therapy which would cost me $800 out of pocket. I declined that due to cost.
I have tried ice, hot foot baths with Epsom salts, elevating, stretching, Voltaren cream, CBD cream and compression socks, heel lifts,& Walk Hero insoles. Nothing gives any long lasting relief. My right Achilles heel has been swelled for a year. Nothing has reduced that. My left foot has pointy things sticking out of my heel a little bit. I feel there is two different issues but the both hurt the same. Does anyone with similar issues have any suggestions for long term relief? TIA

Did they tell you bone spurs? You need to be seem by a podiatrist, not just a DR. This is no wy to live and you might be surprised to see the outcome.

One of the doctors may have mentioned this. But they are all fixated on arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis.

If it is plantar fasciitis, there are several things that can help. I'm sure the link @CallMeKate posted has useful information.

Is your pain worst first thing in the morning? That would be one sign that it could be plantar fasciitis. Stretches before you get out of bed can help.

Try a different podiatrist. It sounds like maybe the one you saw didn't explore deep enough to give you the answers you need.

The pointy things do sound like bone spurs but I've never heard of anyone being able to feel them.

I have arthritis in my feet and ankles. Due to over pronation it created tendonitis. I have sole inserts made specifically for me that has done a lot to relieve the pain.

And just to make things ever more exciting, we have things called fat pads in our feet. Do a lot of walking or gain advanced years and those fat pads wear away leaving bone to hard surface contact adding even more pain.

@jlhog, I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis for about 8 months. It's slow to heal and being older makes it worse. An x-ray on my left foot also shows a heel spur (which often occurs as a result of PF). As others have mentioned, the pain is much worse early in the morning. In the beginning it was nearly crippling for the first 30 minutes.

What's helped me is resting my feet when possible, Voltaren cream when the pain is bad, making sure my footwear doesn't rub on the heel spur, and the passage of time.

Slippers only inside the house and I don't take them off unless I'm going to bed. I bought four pairs of good quality cushioned insoles - one set in my slippers, the rest in various sneakers. Those are the only shoes I've worn since late spring - a bummer for a gal who typically lives in flip-flops over summer.

Wishing you the best.

Here is the largest bump on my left heel. There are several smaller also, but hard to see. These are on the back of my heel. If any of the doctors mentioned bone spurs, none said what to do about them.

I wear my loafers with insoles and heel lifts from the minute I get up from bed. Every pair of boots and shoes I have insoles and heel lifts in them. I understand there will be no more walking barefoot for me.

I would try another podiatrist, but I have seen 3 doctors and they all came up with a different answer. And they all charge me without fixing anything. I have had the same issues with doctors about other things happening to me and pretty much give up on medical "professionals"

I have not read this thread in full. The pic though does resemble a bone spur somewhat.
Not saying it is that. I have a friend who just had a cortisteroid injection for her heal bone
spur and it helped quite a bit so far.

I had that last year, but not that bad. I used these sponges you normally use to do the dishes, but got the hard green part off. Now it's over.

If it's like Plantar Fasciitis- what helped with the pain a lot was compression. I kept my heel wrapped up and stuffed in a tight fitting work boot. There's no quick fix, took 8 months to get past the pain.

@jlhog , you have nothing to lose by trying to find “the good feet store “ near you. There are some in Michigan.

We have one in the Nashville area. Sole inserts really do help, especially with planter fasciitis. They may help with other issues.

You haven’t found any relief yet so you’ve got nothing to lose by walking into a Good Feet Store and having them look at your feet. There is nothing worse than foot pain.

I have sole inserts that were prescribed by my chiropractor and they make a 200% difference in my pain level, as in there is no pain.

Best wishes on finding something that helps🤠🤠
