Goodness. That’s a lot of extra work. I wish you the best ! Sand sounds like a good idea.Thankyou @PeppermintPatty
I have sand, but it’s such a big area to cover, I don’t have enough sand.
What I have decided to do is grab up the old hay that they have wasted and put it in the gate areas where it is frozen mud divets. That will work until the thaw, when I can get in there with the front loader and scrape the wet, yucky hay out.
It looks like my area is still on track for the ice part of the storm. They just aren’t sure how much ice we’re going to see. Enough to make life miserable, or enough to make life extremely miserable with downed powerlines and I would then have to start the generator.

I see N.Y.Snowed again overnight - not much accumulation, about an inch. Sunny, but cold (19F at the moment) and occasional gusts of wind.
It's been about -17C most of the day today with strong winds and a bit of snow to add to the mix. Wind chill must have been about -25C. Supposed to be -29 or -30C tonight. On e good thing is that it doesn't take Harper very long to do her business when it's like this. In and out and she's done.-15°C/4C![]()
Partly sunny
Feels like
-29°
There will be mostly sunny skies. The high will be -13°.
It's a cold one out there today.
