World’s first ‘biomimetic AI robot’ Moya debuts

Not as far as I could tell, and they never created a backstory between he and his mother that would account for his state of mind.
I just wiki'd it. Apparently it stems from the loss of his mother and then his capabilities of socializing with others. In short anyway. I can see the attraction of AI and companionship and why people would seek that out. But the problem is that it's just a computer. It's not the same. But I guess some people are truly that lonely that they are willing to utilize these services.

In a another thread a while back just for the sake of investigating it I had gotten on Replika and made myself an AI friend. It was interesting but also extremely creepy and just wasn't the same as relating to a human. I can see it being very unhealthy.

And a robot may be able to be programmed to reason but I can't imagine it making ethical choices or decisions or being able to reason out being fair or proper. You know? So I'm not really sure what the reasoning is for making these robots other than to take jobs from real people and cause more damage in this already screwed up world.

I'm going to look that up. I've seen the film maybe 6 times, and I cannot recall the dialog mentioning anything about that. Come to think of it, I'm ready to rewatch the movie tonight.

Yep, it's there in the film, a part of the backstory here, and then there, and then a little more hinted at in another place. I guess I wasn't paying attention to those parts, because while I wondered what made Lars weird, it was a very minor part of the story for me. I liked the film as much this time as I did the other six times. It won lots of awards and Gosling did too. I swear, Bianca changes her expression from time to time too, but it's subtle enough that I wonder if I'm just imagining it.

We watched Lars and the Real Girl this evening. I was curious about the office where Lars worked. Was that a mental institution designed to look like a workplace? Everybody there seemed like a nutcase.

There’s a shortage of home help workers. It takes a special person and with our rapidly aging population we’re going to need lots of help. Maybe these can be used for the menial chores like housework, etc.

One can expect it won't be too long before one of the several anatomically correct female sex doll manufactures will eventually within a few years, put some of the same mechanical control features into one of their soft plastic creations, including sexy AI voices, and guess what kind of body movements. Some comics, will die laughing while programming the d!@# things.

It's not uncommon for Hollywood to create work places like that. And I have sometimes wondered what Lar's firm actually does. But it's not just the office. The entire community seems a bit off.

Some humans have in the past and now invented their own "dolls" to play with but it comes from their own imagination not someone else processed chips? If you've lost the knack of chatting up real humans whether male or female - ya half way out the door!

I was chatting with another sailor about things we encountered on the open sea. He mentioned that one time he came across a life sized blow up doll floating about in the middle of nowhere.

You know it's bad enough we hafta be all inclusive and accepting of everyone and everything at work. Imagine going to work and being told you hafta work with one of those and treat it like a real person...
At least you could grab the female robot on it's buttocks without fear of being accused for sexual harassment 🤣 .

This wouldn't be much different. I already have a complete upper denture and only three molars on the left and right side of my lower jaw which are okay. The 4 incisors are replaced with a bridge which sits on 4 capped teeth (2 left, 2 right).
She wouldn't do much damage here either. Just counted, 5 teeth on top...3 on the bottom. :)

True. That could be because the writers never held a regular job and have no idea what it's like in a real workplace! :ROFLMAO:
