Reflections of My Life

The Lymphedema clinic called me today. She said that if I wanted to, they now have a Lymphedema therapist in the physical therapy unit in Norwich. That would mean I would not have to take that long ride to Binghamton for therapy now! I could go more often which is what I needed. I told her yes, send my order there. It is about 3 blocks away.

Having an extra cup of coffee this morning. I am so obsessed with my coffee mug warmer! Enjoying my coffee way more than I used to. It would get cold if I didn't drink it fast and I hate drinking anything fast. Now it is hot, hot, hot! Just the way I like it. I even started having hot herbal tea in the afternoon because I can keep it hot.

They never did replace the washing machines and dryer on the 4th like they said they were. Never mentioned it to us or put up a notice to let us know what is going on. People washing their laundry downstairs today.

the Keto twins put out a youtube video 3 days ago talking about their lepedema.they are going to start taking a supplement called Pycnogenol .they are going to give updates if it helps are not.
:) I have chronic swollen ankles/legs. I don't know what the cause is but always assumed it's just a weakening heart.
I've been taking pycnogenol for many years for my cataracts. Have not noticed improvement in either condition but thanks to you I'll be more alert and maybe double up on it.
The best brands are very aromatic. Anything piney or reminiscent of the forest is good for us, I think.

Nothing since Saturday. You ok?
Yes, I am okay. I feel like sometimes my day to day life sounds boring to others. Mostly housework or watching murder stores while I color. I can't figure out why I watch those shows (48 Hours and FBI Files) when I hate movies about killing or murder.

I am trying to work on my bedroom to make it look nicer. I ordered a floor lamp with a remote control. I will put it the far corner near the head of the bed so I can read in bed at night. The lamp on my vanity is out of reach when I am in the bed. Have to get up to shut it off. I also ordered an electric blanket because that area is the coldest due to the windows.

I think in the summer I am going to order new blinds for the windows. They are very big so will have to save up for them. Then I need to get a handyman to put them up and new curtain rods that fasten to the wall not just stuck in there. Maybe I will get a few more curtain panels to add a bit more color to it. I am not able to move the curtains at all for fear it will bring the whole curtain rod down.

Setting up my DVD player to be able to watch that from the bed. I have a number of DVDs I have not watched yet. Brought them with me when I moved here but never got around to watching them. I think it will be a good idea to set up the player in a permanent place so it is easier to use.

i don't like murder movies either but i like fbi files and csi shows. maybe it's a curious fascination with the solving of them that attracts us. i don't find your daily life the least bit boring. :)

there are these blinds i want for the house that are on adjustable rods that can be tightened to the window frame with a wrench. they are octaganal and room darkening. i'm thinking of using box tape to seal around the sills to keep the leaks closed off if it works. i'm also working on getting some things to treat my trigger at home since i don't have the time off to get surgery done.

maybe that will alleviate it enough to manage until i can get the surgery done. i've got braces and a special tape along with a tens unit i plan to order to help me get some relief. i'm just gonna hafta be patient. lol

Sometimes we have to figure things out for ourselves. That is why I like my new doctor. I can research what I need to do and tell her and she will write the doctor order for whatever it is.

I just placed a grocery delivery order for my son. He is addicted to Coke (the soda). So I always get him two 2-liter bottles of it. I keep one in my refrigerator and give him one. Then when he needs more he knows I have it for him down here. the price at Walmart has been $1.98 a bottle for some time now. Even last week. Today it is $3.03 a bottle!

That is a big jump in price. I did not buy it for him. Instead I got Walmart's brand of root beer and cream soda. Surprise for him..........just hope it will be something he likes. He liked those flavors as a child. I would love to get him off the soda for good but I think that is impossible. You cannot tell him something is bad for him because he will just say that is not true. He knows more than me of course.

My neighbor who lives across the hall came to my door today. He wanted to know what he was supposed to go to today. I reminded him there was a taco meal in the community room today at 2 PM. He wanted to know if he had to go to it. I told him no, I am not going. I don't go to any of their community meals now. He said he doesn't like these meals because everyone swears in their conversations. He just doesn't like to hear it. I didn't know they did that because I don't hang out with them.

I would be the same as your neighbour kat. I can swear, I'm no angel but I wouldn't do it outside this house, and I certainly hate hearing it in public and would not in any way be happy to share a table with those who are foul mouthed ...

My mother used to say if you can't express yourself without using foul language then you have no inteligence, and best to keep your mouth closed .....and she was only young herself when she would be telling us this

The only thing I can think of that would make life better here in my apartment building would be a new owner and better management. Someone who cares about the people who live here. Not just squeezing as much money out of everyone who lives here and does not have a lot of money. I looked for information about our management and this is what I found.

"Bryten Real Estate Partners has received a total of 34 complaints in the last three years, with 20 of those closed in the past 12 months. Most complaints remain unanswered, indicating issues with customer service and responsiveness."

Common Issues Reported

  • Service or Repair Issues: Many complaints relate to maintenance problems that were not addressed in a timely manner.
  • Communication Problems: Residents have reported difficulties in reaching management and receiving responses to their inquiries.
  • Deposit and Fee Disputes: Some tenants have expressed frustration over non-refundable fees and issues with the return of security deposits.
  • Rent Increases: Complaints include sudden rent increases after management changes, which have caught residents off guard.

Customer Experiences

  • Negative Interactions: Several residents have described their experiences as unsatisfactory, citing poor management communication and unresolved maintenance requests.
  • Lack of Transparency: Tenants have reported feeling misled about fees and lease terms, leading to dissatisfaction with the management practices.
Overall, Bryten Real Estate Partners has a concerning track record regarding customer complaints, particularly in areas of service responsiveness and financial transparency.

So I feel when looking for a place to live there needs to be a way to research the management and owners. Not just the apartment and the building. In this building I live in there is constant stress and negativity among the tenants. Nobody ever says our management is good. When I moved in here there was some tenants who complained constantly about the manager. But there was a lot of interaction with her and she was fair and kept us informed. And actually was here every day even though she had to manage 2 other buildings in neighboring towns. She was fired because they said she went over budget.

Thank you for a very important issue. How can we find places to rent where we can find the truth about the property and management? There are laws that can help, but just finding a place, and then trusting it will be good, means that trust can easily be broken. We need greater transparency and accountability. That should be made available to anyone interested in living there. IMO

You are absolutely correct! It is trying to uncover the truth about a place before you make the move into it. I noticed that whenever we get a manager who wants to help the tenants and goes out of their way to do nice things for us they do not last very long. Because their bosses want them to be indifferent toward us who live here.

They advertise full time management and maintenance which is not true. They make it seem like a great place to live even putting up a picture of a lake with a dock next to it. It is downtown. No lake or dock in sight. Maybe a loading dock from neighboring buildings.

Well, Spectrum raised their rates again. After researching it on the internet I am thankful it is only three dollars more. So now I am paying $35. for internet and I guess I shouldn't complain. When I first moved here it was only $19.99. Then about four years ago they raised it to $24. and it has been on the rise ever since. I just wish they would send or email me a heads up when they are doing that. I budget every dollar in my account and yes, sometimes a few dollars can make a difference.

I have been spending money lately getting things I need. So now I have to take a break from all that shopping. I am trying to increase my emergency fund. It has to be kept in cash due to not being allowed to have much money in my account or my rent goes up. So you can't save for some big item you want to buy. That is why I usually buy them with a credit card.

It’s about the same where I live.

All of the money spent and attention paid is to attract new tenants but very, very, little is done to keep existing tenants.

It seems that they would be able to reduce turnover and the constant expenses associated with rehabbing apartments if they spent a bit more on routine maintenance and improving the quality of life for existing tenants.

Yes, my thoughts exactly! They have to do a lot of work on the apartments when someone leaves. Plus they are sitting there for months just waiting to be worked. Not bringing in any money at all. Our maintenance man has 2 buildings to work on and it seems like he always working on empty ones. Plus he has to do the cleaning of the public areas as well. He does try to do his best but I think there should be one maintenance man for each building.

Spectrum is charging us $200/mo for internet and t.v....you are fortunate. For that price we don't get much in the way of t.v. programing selections either, unless we give them more money.
