That's a good enough reason!I’m the only one that still celebrates my birthday and I’m just in it for the cake!

Time for you to aquire Birthday Amnesia when it comes to those people........I am disappointed that no one I know personally remembers mine. I do theirs. However, when I extend good wishes, I am usually met with disdain and a comment something to the effect, "Birthdays are for 10-year-olds."
Opposite here.... everything is geared to people over 80... people my age are stuck in no man's land... it's either 50's and under...or 80's and over....Just another day for me at almost 93 and now it seems my family.
Note that governments here in Canada don't provide any special assistance.
Everything is geared to age 65, 75 in which of course we are already included
I have yet to see anything special happen for 90 plus and some of us could use it.
It's seems like we just don't exist.
just sayin '

You need better friends, Deb.I am disappointed that no one I know personally remembers mine. I do theirs. However, when I extend good wishes, I am usually met with disdain and a comment something to the effect, "Birthdays are for 10-year-olds."
we got a birthday card, and one grandparent..my paternal grandmother would send a card with a postal order for 2/6 in it... ..but there was no parties no cake....When we were kids we never had birthday parties.
We always got to choose the kind of homemade cake and our favorite meal.
We received a couple cards with a few dollars tucked inside and a few simple presents from family members. It was always a big thrill to get a couple cards in the mail.
why was that pinks ?As children, we only got a birthday cake when we turned 10 yrs. old.
@hollydollywhy was that pinks ?
My hour glass is bottom heavy enough. Another birthday, another year's accumulation. But I do like the somberness of mortality, it's a nice contrast with the easy joy and frivolity of youth. A cake with the correct number candles would be a fire hazard.
I guess I'd describe my feelings as ambivalent. Let us eat cake.
